    Sheffield Wednesday v Swansea

    Owls v Swans Tuesday 22 Oct 19:45
Two long away trips in a few days and with Millwall at home on Saturday we have to rotate the squad.
With such a lean squad we may have to utilise the academy players if available.
Priority is scoring goals and quite why we were looking at a midfielder and a defender, when we should have been looking for a free agent goal scorer is puzzling.
Probably all the non-contract forwards have been hoovered up anyway with the Swans always late to the party.
The January window doesn’t look promising either with the owners stranglehold on the purse strings.
They can’t even offer competitive contracts to our in-form centre-backs Darling and Cabango, who will be able to sign pre-contracts with another club in January as their contracts run out next June.
Looking abroad for cheaper options will be on the cards again.
Both teams lost their last match, Swans at Blackburn, Owls at home to high flying Burnley.
Ex-Swan Jamal Lowe will be hoping to score against his old club after we spurned the chance to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.
We’d better pull our finger out and get some target practice if we want to get anything from this match.

The wait goes on after the fourth match in a row without scoring. Two weak sides, the game was full of mistakes and neither team deserved to win. We were blunt up front, no change there then, and once again won nothing in the air from corners and free kicks into their box. Fulton hit the post early doors and that’s the closest we got to breaking the deadlock.

I can’t see where we’re going with these tactics and players and a head-coach who has no answer to the problem of the dearth of goals scored by this team.
We are the lowest scoring team in the Championship on 8 goals, with Cullen our leading scorer on 2 goals!
We last scored a goal 5 matches ago.
We made five changes last night, keeping our best players on the bench.

Lucky we have a solid defence boys or we would be deep in it. Oh wait a minute, our central defensive pair are out of contract in the summer and could be gone in January. No acceptable contract offers to them from our over the pond owners will see us sink. Our recruitment of players has been abysmal and has left LW with nothing to work with. January transfer window could define our season and our future as a Championship club.
