Further Strenghening of Oakwell Officer Structure.

Welcome to Darren Hayes to the post of Chief Commercial Officer at Barnsley FC.

CEO Jon Flatman informs Barnsley fans that Darren will "lead the strategic development of our Commercial team" seeking to grow the Club's revenue streams.

Edit --Add a t to strenghening to become strengthening

Difficult job , no doubt about it in the present economic climate .

I don't actually think that there's any more money to be extracted out of the regular Oakwell punter and what is isn't going to make too much difference .

The real money is in corporate hospitality and sponsorship .

Darren Hayes would do well to arrange a visit with Matt Ellis at Wakefield Trinity and see what can be achieved in attaining the corporate dollar .

The facilities , events and the amount of packages to appeal to all pockets is simply incredible .

That's where the money is today .

Good point. Improvements can always be made, especially in our case. Being a bit cynical, I look at it as just another person on the payroll.

The club have the facilities in place , they simply don't optimise them enough in my opinion .

There's very little effort made in my opinion other than a meal , drink , player coming in after the game for a brief interview and that's it .

When I went on my stag do to be honest I was bored shyteless , there wasn't one single thing that would have attracted me back and bear in mind I didn't pay a cracker for the afternoon either .

As Gordon Ramsay once said, something along the lines of- 'if you stand still in business, and rest on your laurels without moving with the times, then its likely you'll stagnate and ultimately fail.'

I went in the executive boxes in 2013 and from what thaz described, nowts changed.

Darren Hayes should make his mark by selling the naming rights of Oakwell Stadium.

    "Oakwell" is so late 1880's.
