There are two prats in this situation. Firstly the idiot who threw the flare, and secondly the idiot who came up with the rule of fining the club.

The kind of pea-brains who throw flares and cause violence don't really care about their club or fellow supporters anyway, so fining the club money or points is actually punishing the players and all the law-abiding supporters.

The only way to stop this happening is to identify the individuals and hit them with draconian consequences that not only take away their opportunity to do it again, but also strike enough of a sense of self preservation into their similarly dense 'friends' to make them think twice too.

Of course, this task isn't easy and rests primarily with law enforcement, but that's why the authorities go for the easy and symbolic option instead. Absolute waste of time.

May well turn out to be one of those things that a lot of people complain about for decades, nothing gets done to properly stamp it out, then eventually there's a terrible 'accident' and people wonder why nobody saw it coming, how people could be so stupid and why did it take a tragedy like this for the authorities to deal with it once and for all.

What is the point of them? They add nothing to the atmosphere. The novelty aspect wore off within a few games of first seeing it.

One of the dumbest things ever introduced to the game.

Four people have already died from flare related injuries at football matches over the years.

Given the CCTV within football grounds these days, it should be relatively easy to identify anyone with a flare and ban them for life. It's the only way these morons will stop. They're was a debate on here about the use of flares a few years ago and some people actually defended it. How dim can you be?

There's footage online of a Dutch supporter losing part of his hand when a flare he was holding exploded. That'll probably stop him from ever doing it again I suppose...

There were a couple of what looked like vapes thrown at the lino as well. (not sure why, he didn?t give the penalty )..

I?ve no idea why it?ll be Notts as a club who get punished for this, deterrence value?

Yeah, I honestly can't think what NCFC could have done to stop one of our fans throwing a flare. It's not our ground. How did the Crewe security staff allow him in with it in the first place?

They might hand them to a slightly younger member of the crew who probably won't be profiled for a pat down or easily smuggled in beneath a puffer jacket.

Away fans have also managed to get them in to ML too, impossible job for the stewards to search a group of p***ed or high lads arriving in a group who then split between different turnstiles.

If the person was not identified, how do they know for certain that it was a Notts fan anyway?

Probably was, but it seems unfair that we are fined if it was not one of our fans.

Offenders need to be identified, CCTV should at least be checked and other fans need to be willing to call them out.
