Convinced that the world HAS gone mad!

A so called artist stuck a banana to a wall with tape and described it as art. A Chinese entrepreneur bought it for 5 million pounds and stated that he would eat the banana as an artistic experience. It proves to me that the world has gone mad and wouldn?t this stupid Chinaman been better donating that money to charity or some other deserving cause.

I wonder about the ‘artist’; is he, or she (or it/they) laughing his socks off at conning the morons in the art world or he so deluded that he actually considers the taped banana as ‘art’? So many pseuds of the art community are so up themselves, it borders on the tragic!

There has always been this question about the definition of "art" revolving around the balance of idea/concept and execution/level of craftsmanship. Whether some "artists" are taking the pi ss or not is a discussion that long predates taping bananas to walls, exhibiting sheep cut in half , displaying un-made beds or producing multi copy lithographs of Campbell's soup, Elvis or Marylin. Anyone else remember that Tony Hancock film "The Rebel" about a cr ap painter who finds fame as the creator of the "Infantile School of Painting"?😁

Glad your not askin me to make a funny about this as I think I might slip up.

I think I have an artistic vain so I have tied some plums to my sycamore tree. They shriveled up so I need to prune it soon. It’s not art and it is not funny, so I’ll return to my day job.
