I'm with you, not that bothered. It is good to see a local lad making good with us but I don't think, in the grand scheme of things, it's that important.
Not going to start a poll but how important is it to you personally to see local players in the starting 11?
Maybe break that down a bit into local ie Tayside born or Academy.
To me it's not that important but I get the sense that a lot of fans see it as very important.
What's your thoughts and reasons.

Massive to me, that used to be uniteds DNA, utd reared players at least, don't have to be local so much. That should be the goal, not at expense of first team however, they have to be good enough. Almost irrelevant though as we seem either by design or due to circumstances incapable these days of tying our best youngsters down before getting any serious game time in the first team, both the odd exception.
If a young player has the right attitude it doesnt matter much to me where they come from. Its great to see a local lad who supports the club in the team too though.
It was great when we had a reserve team and we could see the kids playing against proper footballers instead of this same age based pish. The players I remember seeing coming through were Dailly, McKinnon and Bollan. As they had the experience of reserve team football and we had a fairly successful first team they came in and gave the team that blend of youth and experience.
Much rather have home grown than useless Aussies. In saying that Curtis Good was a good one imo.
Seeing the likes of Ross Graham coming into the first 11 and nailing down his place is great.
Likewise other academy graduates. Fans will always identify with lads living the dream.
Think it's the same at most clubs.
But being brutally honest if we had a first 11 that was successful every week it wouldn't bother me if there was no Academy players in it.
Is it only me who goes to see the team as often as i can in the hope that some young lad breaks into the team and lives the dream i never will!
Essentially, i want to see a bunch of players who come into our team and give their all for the dreamers in the crowd. If that team has a core of the best young local and Scottish prospects, then all the better.
Really hope Ross Graham gets a couple of years in the team, Owen Stirton gets the chance to score plenty goals, and the next crop can be part of a great history of developing young talent.
