    Rudderless

Rudderless is how I see the club at the moment.
We have owners who we hardly ever hear from.
We had a "Director of Football" (sort of) who left for greener pastures (Traore as a parting gift). On Swansea City's site their owners described his role at Notts as "He was tasked with running the club?s football operations, including overseeing player recruitment, managerial appointments, academy operations, medical, sports science, and analysis." A very big hole to fill but we have heard nothing other than their first statement where they said "it presents us with an opportunity to review our current set-up to ensure we?re in a strong position to continue the club?s positive progress". So who is having to carry out those tasks now?
We have a Chief Executive who we only hear from if they are talking about The Nest.
We have a manager who has lost his 2 most senior coaches after an incident at the beginning of the year only to have them replaced by an analyst.
So what are we hearing from the club? Absolutely nothing!
Are we progressing with the appointment of a new "DoF" to help oversee the running of the club and starting to analyse our needs for next season? Don't know!
Are we going to bring in experienced coaches to help reduce the enormous additional workload that must have been put on SM? Who knows!

The latter point is the most relevant at the moment because it would make a big difference to our on the field performances.

Crowley needed to be replaced. I know we are aiming for sustainability but drops of 2000 on the gate per match (?40000???) is worrying. Reminds me of the saying about knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing.

Silently ambling along with no direction or purpose. To me we seem Rudderless.

Brilliantly put. Apart from being rudderless, it feels like being on a submarine..

To be fair I'd expect 'rudderless' to be the last thing any business run by our current owners would be. Fingers crossed all this incessant doom and gloom can be dispelled by a good result tomorrow.

And here was me thinking that short term reactionary statements put out by the likes of Trew and Hardy saved the day.

    NOT.
Valid points to be fair which are always likely to be raised when the team on the pitch is not performing.

Regarding the incident, I?m assuming that?s the fabled one against Walsall? Can anyone shed a bit more light on that?

I did wonder if the old we hardly ever hear from the owners line would raise its head. Do you remember Alan Hardy? If you want to go back to that moronic drivel, I would be ever so worried.

I do agree to a point in that I am surprised Montague has not been replaced, but I also do not think all of those tasks he oversaw, as quoted by the club, have just ground to a halt. I do not think there are stats just piling up with no one to look at them.

Joao Alves began at Notts as an analyst, which involves coaching. He is not just some bod sat crunching numbers and knocking up spreadsheets. He is a coach.

I get its frustrating at the minute. But take a step back and consider:

An obvious recruitment strategy that has produced far more positives than negatives.
Having players others want to buy.
Being able to spend money on players.
Various revenue streams; The Nest and the myriad of sponsorship partners we have.
And plenty of other massive positives.

    Also;

Not being ran by an egoistical nut case.

I totally get the frustration that has caused this post. From how the brothers have operated though they dont speak until there is something to say.
I guess replacing Montague isnt as straight forward as what people, myself included thought it would be. Hopefully time and diligence will be put in and somebody far better than Montague will be identified. There were far too many poor signings made by Montague for my liking.
The replacement of the Saunders I guess is more down to Maynard. If I was him I would be identifying somebody sharpish though as performances suggest he needs help.

Could it be that we have not replaced the coaching staff because Maynard's position is under review? Why would you employ a new team for him to work with, if he might not be here in a few weeks?

Maybe they are waiting for Montague's replacement before they can examine the whole structure and see who the new man wants to work with?

    Valid OP

Everyone leaves us - Burchnall/Doyle, Williams/Harley/Lawtey, Saunders bros, Woots, Ruben, AB, Nemane, Crowley, Montague etc.
Most of those departures are for understandable reasons but it's still too many and too often. Referencing Hardy is irrelevant, we do need a bit more talking up of the club to keep fan morale and enthusiasm up.
