R I P Tony Book, ex manager of Man City, a good man......

thurs night watching stream of Millwall uder18's play Man City came the announcement of Tony's passing. I first met Tony when I was living in Las Palmas during times spent working in Africa. I had an apartment there and was arranging a birthday party for my pal at the Hotel Christina on the seafront. I was talking to the events manager at the bar when this guy walked over and asked me a simple question, he said he was Man City's manager and his team had just played Las Palmas in a cup game. Could his players come to my party before flying out next day. I agreed as I had already invited loads of girls to it that I knew after living there for 2 years.the players really enjoyed it and Asa Hartford (he had a hole in the heart) even fixed the sound system. Besides Tony several of the players found time to talk to me especially their goalkeeper Joe Corrigan and Rodney Marsh. When Tony left he thanked me and said anytime i was up in Manchester I could have a free seat. But the main thing was that he really looked after his players. Do not think this would happen in this day and age sadly, as that was in the 70's.
