    Match Ratings vs Swindon

Bass - 7 - Did pretty much everything competently. A couple of loose kicks but back to his calm, measured self.

McDonald - 7.5 - An excellent all round display. Playing on the right enabled him to play some good passes forward into midfield.

Platt - 7.5 - Excellent again. Not hampered by having Tshimanga weighing down his pocket.

Bedeau - 7.5 - Another very Bedeau performance. Reliable, strong and got forward well.

Austin - 7.5 - You can see the confidence in him. Some great touches and excellent balls into the box.

Palmer - 7.5 - Slightly wasteful with possession in the first half but an overall good performance. Knits it together beautifully.

Abbott - 8 - Similar to Palmer in the first half with the ball at times, but he seems to get stronger as the game goes on. Love his positivity with the ball at feet, whether it be passing or driving forward.

Martin - 7.5 - Another who has really found his confidence. Looks a different player. If he can keep up this level of contribution he is worth keeping until the end of the season.

Crowley - 7.5 - A very Number 10 performance. Some sublime moments; the slip to Austin in the run up to the first was exceptional. His movement is outstanding too. Got caught on it a few times, but I would rather have a risk taking 10 than a safe 10.

Jatta - 7.5 - Again, his all round play was brilliant. Can do a bit of everything. Can see him being the next out the door for a decent fee.

McGoldrick - 9.5 - One of the best individual performances I have seen from a Notts player in a long time. Two good goals but pretty much everything else he did was gold. One of the few footballers who can manipulate a game without touching the ball. Gutted he did not get his third. If that volley goes in at the end, the roof comes off the Kop.

Jones - Feeling his way back in, but looked sharp. Put in a beautiful ball that McGoldrick should have gambled on.

Grant - As Jones, just getting his way back in. Will have to be patient should we stick with a single 10 but can see him being deployed out wide too.

Brown - Two absolutely superb balls to set McGoldrick and Grant away. Think he could be a decent back up for McGoldrick.

Cundy - Much prefer seeing him go up top to be honest.

Hinchy - Brought on to facilitate the McGoldrick standing ovation which he did superbly. Textbook.

Nice job! But I?m going Didzy-Diez
After that the Matties were the best, Platt and Palmer 8s at least
One negative note, whatever he is for us, Martin is not a left wing-back

I would take 0.5 off the OP's ratings (which is a slightly pointless exercise!) just because Swindon were limited. Swindon's high pressure tactics created a lot of spaces and we should've scored at least 5.

Tricky one today to differentiate between most of the team because we did not have to do too much to put Swindon away. They looked threatening when going long and into the channels first half, but second half they faded as we strangled the game.

Definitely agree with Thai that we could and should really have made it 4/5/6.

Really good - can?t fault these. Wins like today only look routine because the players all carried out their jobs well.

Great position to be in January but there be no desperation (in my view) to strengthen the 11, when the players coming back are factored in.

I?m probably the same. Thought Austin and Martin looked very good again today.
McDonald did well. Looks like an old fashioned CB who has slotted into a 3 and found his feet. His tackling and heading skills are top notch and today he showed his passing as well.
    Enjoyed the day today.

A really good TEAM performance without a " weakest link !"
A 2-0 scoreline flattering Swindon really.
A match where, arguably, Dan Crowley was the least impressive performer despite playing some clever through balls.
The ever dependable Jacob Bedeau , Matty Platt , Matt Palmer and Macdonald were all outstanding .
Sam Austin and Josh Martin both put in a great shift to good effect.
Magical McGoldrick was different class of course , belied his age and the fact that he was playing a fourth game in 10 days.

    McGoldrick was pure class today.
The amount of flicks and turns that just left them for dead was incredible.
The player that currently deserves the most appreciation though is Sam Austin.
He?s put in such a shift over Christmas but today he was brilliant from start to finish.
He gets a lot of stick but every squad needs a Sam Austin and I?m delighted for him.

Curious point, is it my imagination or do some people only only mark SM after a bad game (not saying that about any posters so far today)
