I feel so lucky and privileged to have seen him play many times. He was worshipped.

Slightly before my time as I started going regularly when Cyril started around 77. A fantastic player though and if he?s looking down he would be so proud of what Dawn has achieved.

Have been privileged to see most of the modern greats and by that I mean from the mid fifties onwards. The one glaring omission was Stanley Matthews. I remember travelling from Leominster to see Wolves v. Blackpool just to see Matthew’s. He was rarely injured but guess what? He was that day so I never saw him live. Remember seeing the Holy Trinity, Best, Law and Charlton when we hammered them 6-3.:What a night!

Me and my mate arrived at the usual time to see the 6-3. The Brummie was full and closed so we raced around to the Smethwick end. Got in but that too was packed. Walked down one the gangways (or whatever they were called) and somehow managed to squeeze our way in. Glorious times back then.

Same experience 165. My mate, a United fan by the way, and I were virtually the last to get into the ground. We’d travelled across from college in Leicester so would have been a bit miffed if we had not got in. Well, I would, I am not so sure about my mate after the result! Cannot believe it is nearly sixty years ago.

I too had to race round to the Smethwick to get in. From memory we were 6-0 up before they scored.

It was a Monday night at the end of April United top of the League with Man City 2nd. They just missed out to City and a month later won the European Cup. Just any case there's any doubt it was a full strength Utd team Best, Law, Charlton et al.
