Paper talks that we are not signing anyone this january, making it 3rd window in a row without major transfers in.
Makes you think if its only a PSR issue or the board wants to see if we can make CL again and go all in in summer?
With all the nonsense media talk, it crossed my mind that we should publicly put a cheeky bid in for Saka. Would certainly cause some entertaining meltdowns on TV, radio and YouTube![]()

I wouldn?t mind if we didn?t sign anyone. If we qualify for the champions league, we will 100% need to bring in too player and show ambition to the likes of Isak and Tonali to convince them to stay. I think those 2 will be wanted by clubs that can spend big and give high salaries. Isak will be earning more than 300k a week next season, if not here then it will be somewhere else.
I thought the same at first, but let's imagine we go onto a bad run of results in February or March. A bit like the one we were on before the good results started ticking in. In such an event and coupled with a few injuries on top, it would be bad for business not to have invested in a few quality players this window.
I'm sure there's a good reason why we may not bring anyone in, but in the name of keeping players motivated to fight for their place in the team, to give them a rest if things don't go our way, and in case we run into some serious injuries to key players - I think we would be better off signing perhaps two players for the first team.
Would love to be able to bring in a couple of first team quality players, but I think weve pretty much spent what we could already under Staveley.
We had major losses 21/22, 22/23 - after deductions those 2 years alone were over 120m in the red which resulted in us having to sell Anderson and Minteh to make sure we were in a positive number for 23/24 to balance the other 2 years out in the PSR cycle.
I guess the lack of spending now shows how close we were to the wire for 23/24 and Im sick of the They took our Guehi line, obviously we had a little (to pay year 1 of 5) but we brought in Vlachidimos (to balance the books in a deal with Forest - though 35m for Anderson looks cheap now) and Osula which would have taken up some of that money.
This year well have improved main sponsorship money and the stack, but we also dont have the CL money coming in so its not an immediate fix plus we have given out substantial pay rises to some players and brought Lloyd Kelly in on stupid money it all adds up.
Mitchell seems to get a lot of stick for not doing anything, but if we havent got the revenue to support spending then WTF is he supposed to do?
Not knocking Staveley either, we needed players and weve brought in a lot of very good players.
I also can?t believe this sites devs can?t get location specific keyboard settings based on IP of user? the stupid symbols replacing punctuation are really doing my head in
This ^^^I totally get what Ian says about no money but surely there's a little leeway.
We are an Isak injury away from the season going bust, imo. Who would score the goals apart from Gordon?
Mbuemo would be fantastic-an huge inorovement on Murphy and a scorer of goals. He'd cost a lot even if Brentford would let him come-he might not even want to-but him or that sort of player could help push us over the line in terms of getting 4th. Would restrict our Summer spending but the first team would be incredible.
Most of our rivals are signing players we cant be left behind, At least get a replacement for Miggy if he leaves but. Surely it would be better to spend something now while were in a strong position of strength.
PSR doesn?t allow us to save for a rainy day? with the 3 year rolling window we could be ?300mil up one year, but all that means nothing 3 years down the line.
I look at Brighton and the players they have sold on?
Cucurella
Bissouma
Mac Allister
Caicedo
White
They?ve made a fortune? but haven?t exactly gone big to replace them.
And time is running out to spend that profit.
If we sell, anybody? we need to invest now while it counts for toward PSR rather than being lost further down the line.
Otherwise, there?s absolutely no point in selling if we don?t immediately replace.
I imagine any move will depend on shipping person or persons out of the club.
Anyways? we need a goalscorer? either through the centre, or from the right.
And if second to that, a RCB. Then I think things are looking rosy!
I'm going to be very unsurprised if we sign nobody in Jan.
However, I do think we'll be spending in the summer and we're keeping powder dry for that.
