Happy with that at the moment, could have been a lot worse. Steve Evans doing his best with constraints.
Those of you
Wanting him out .
Tell me which manager you want to replace him.
Crash, my personal expectations were that we would just consolidate this season and finish 10th/mid table. As much as how the injury table never surprises me because of who we sign, my prediction is on track so I'm not disappointed at all so far.
The problem may well fester next season because who we gave 2 year contracts to pre season. A lot need off loading/loaning out.
I said in another post, I don't want promotion this season into the championship,
the players we have would not cope in the championship.
We will lose 2 players at least in the summer in Humphreys & Odoffin, the club
don't have the quality to gain promotion.
So we will be left with players next season on contracts, who are injury prone.
We will have to get through the rest of the season, stay in league one, then its
down to Tony Stewart in the summer, to decide what is going to happen at the club,
in management & spending for the coming season.
Will he study matters & decide to bring in investors, sell-up, or carry on the one
man show.
Jock said ?We started in the 3rd tier, and we'll complete our century in the 3rd tier. 100 years of unbroken league football. How many at our level can say that??
Jock nailed it.
I think we 'might' get a glimmer regarding his intentions in April ELK. That is when TS tends to do his annual address, when the Rhododendrons are in full bloom and make a wonderful backdrop. It all just seems a bit 'chucked together' at the moment with no plan or strategy going forward. To be honest,I only feel a tiny bit more warmth for this squad than I did for last year's mob, which has suprised me. I at least thought that the minimum SE would do is bring back the connection between squad and fans that had been missing since Warne left. I'm not so sure he's succeeded with that either, never mind the results.
There is no such thing as mid table mediocrity in so far as Rotherham United is concerned.
Anyone remember season 1972/73?
I still have nightmares about it.
We've been on huge ups and downs since we left Millmoor. It was bound to even out eventually. Much bigger teams than us have struggled in this division.
We really need the support to stick together and not desert them. It's easy to follow a winning team.
No problem with finishing mid table if we are bringing young players through. When you sign seasoned league 1 players your going for promotion and it's backfired.
I agree with some TS was getting ready to sell up but I think his ideal plan was whilst we are in the championship.
I'm not sure what assets we have to make that sale and at what value in this mad world of football.
TBH I don't get eat up by the background running of rufc and the if, what's and maybes.
I don't care who is sat in the director box or sat in the dugout I pay my money to watch 22 men kick a bag of wind around a pitch and make memories with my dad, whilst he's still able to do so..
Late charge for the playoffs would be the ideal finish to this season, even if we don't make it all the way
I suppose mid-table means you are in the middle pack of 8 teams so 9th to 16th and I hope that we are towards the top of those but with what we have seen this season and the state of the squad I think the bottom half of that group is more likely. I still think one out of the bottom four will crawl up and stay up, that would mean one team above them drops into that place and based on the last three seasons our form (messaged over 6 games) would have to get even worse.
A few stats for people.
Last 6 games we average 0.5 points, previous 6 games average 1.83 points, across those 12 games average is 1.16.
So with 15 games to go those averages could give us 46 points, 66 points or across 12 games 55 points.
To maintain 14th place over the last three seasons you needed 60, 56, 58 points. So taking the 12 game average we are likely to drop 1 or 2 places. That would put us in the bottom of that middle 8 teams.
Even if we hit the form of the games that averaged us 1.83 points a game achieving 66 points, over the last three seasons that would have placed us 10th, 10th and 12th. So our best form would only just get us in the top half!!
So the average across the last 12 league games of 1.16 points a game, if continued for the next 15 games gets us 55 points. Over the last 3 seasons that would have been 16th place, the bottom place of that middle 8 teams.
Being that staying up is the most realistic target for RUFC this season that is ok, but would TS and SE really tell us that 16th or even 14th is a successful season?
