    Half Time

Does anybody else recognise how flat we usually are after half-time - which is the moment during the game where the manager can theoretically influence his players the most and make adjustments. This is a trend I have seen all season under SM. Is this not a major red-flag in terms of his managerial competence?

To note - I am not advocating dispensing with SM, but its something that really bothers me...

Maybe we lack someone to get the lads going on the way back out on to the pitch. We need a Jim O"Brien type in the chaging room as I can't se SM getting them worked up ready unfortunately. I can't see anyone in the squad that could do that at the moment.

Totally agree, we could definitely do with Jim in there to get them fired up..

So are we going to start a thread especially with some of the away performances where the lads have shown high intensity all the way through games and won? We have actually won quite a lot of games this season btw. There were plenty of lacklustre second halves whilst Jim was here too.

If SM was waving his arms around all game I?m sure people wouldn?t even question this, players probably wouldn?t like it though, even the mighty Pep throughout his illustrious career has Sat slumped in his seat, arms folded, imagine if SM did that?

The second half drop-off certainly can't be due to the subs because they're not allowed before 70 minutes.

I can't say I've noticed a particular trend after half-time, but certainly in Tuesday night's game against Colchester we had been clinging on up to half-time and the situation obviously called for the players to lift their energy and performance levels a lot when we started the second half, but instead we continued to give Colchester the initiative and the equalising goal felt inevitable.

The trend or habit that worries me is not in any one specific part of the game, but a general slowness and sloppiness in the way we're playing of late. For want of a better description I keep saying the players seem to be playing in a comfort zone, which ironically isn't comfortable to watch. I think they are capable of playing at a high tempo with more aggression and more intensity, and they need to do it consistently, imposing themselves on the game, otherwise the teams playing us quickly realise we're there to be taken.

I think a lot has to do with the opposition in that recently teams have pressed us a lot harder in the second half.
Port Vale was a good example.
What we need is Saunders bleddy blue print!

No its not a red flag for me your players need to stand up and be counted no manager is gonna say take it easy lads.

Also from others O'Brien wouldnt change nothimg people think SHOUTING is going to make difference is laughable, it didnt help when we got relegated or when we failed in the play off seasons.

The bloke had Wealdstone punching above their weight and possibly us to as we dont have a top 4 budget.
