O/T:- Is Failed Mill turning into a nursing home?

Does Clough only sign pensioners? They've signed another 34 year old

It's a football topic and a local rival.

Clough isn’t worried about signing players for the short term. Same with Wrexham with their signing of Jay Rodriguez.

Mind you, one of our most important players is 37 and I’m hoping we offer him a new contract in the summer.

I hope we offer him a new contract too.

The difference between us and Mansfield is that DmG has legs all around him? Mansfield are a squad on the aging side.
It was interesting watching the Chelsea game last night and finding out that no player has made an appearance and been over 30. Football is fast becoming a younger man?s sport.

Given their fanbase, wouldn't Rampton be a more accurate analogy ?

Clough got them promoted, and they're holding their own in L1, so it's not like the strategy has failed. It is rather short-sighted though.

I sort of get it with Wrexham, who want to blast their way up the league pyramid as quickly as possible so as not to lose interest from abroad, and bringing in old heads who have done it at a higher level a safer bet than developing youngsters in the short term. But with Mansfield, you'd think the fact that most of their squad will be retired in a couple of years would be a bit of a worry.
