    Run-In Confidence

It seems like we need to win more or less every game to grab an auto spot. Can we do it?

With the current first XI probably not. But with Jones, Jatta and Austin (Bass seems very unlikely) back then we have a chance I believe.

    GK

    Macari
    Platt
    Bedeu

    Jones
    Palmer
    Abbott
    Austin
    Jarvis

    Jatta
    McGoldrick

    If only!

Would love to see Sam Austin back too, can't remember what SM said his injury status was at the last 'crocks' update. But again he's going to take a couple of games at least to get up to speed.

You an injury crisis is bad when Austin is out. Seems like the least injury-prone player ever.

I think Sam Austin had to fight to find his better form this season before he went out. I could imagine it taking quite a few games to rediscover that, which we couldn't afford in this run-in. If he gets fit, I think he'll just provide cover, at least to start with. We're going to need Jarvis, Whitaker, Traore to provide attacking sparks to support Jatta & Didzy

I think we were waiting for results of tests for Sam
Not sure what the issue in
JJ should be back very soon - Stuart Maynard says he's itching to get back once the medics give the green light

SM said the issue now was one of illness.
That can cover a very wide range of conditions.

With MK, Colchester, Salford and Bradford coming up next, I'd say the Newport game is the last chance saloon for any auto-hopes. Get onto 65pts asap and build some confidence and spark a run.
It should be treated as a must win and any talk about the performance if we get 1pt or less would be completely hollow now.

I have no confidence that Maynard is good enough to get us promoted I hope i'm wrong but I doubt it
If he thinks we are building momentum with last 2 home games then he is very misguided

78 pts is the lowest anybody has got auto promoted with from tier 4 this century (the cut short lockdown season aside).
Notts could reach that tally with as few as 4 more wins if all the other 4 are drawn.

I suppose there is a decent case to be made that if any season is going to be the one to break the 21st century record with somebody grabbing 3rd with less than 78 points, it's this one, but the current projected requirement is 80, so - as we stand - you've got to be aiming for that to be in with a decent shout, which means 5 wins, 3 draws, 0 defeats.... or with 6 wins you can get to 80 affording to lose twice more.

As Notts have only won 2 of the last 9, winning 5 or 6 of the final 8 looks like a big ask. We're also on the brink of equalling or outdoing the worst 10 game run of the season that saw us drop from 2nd to 11th if we don't win at Newport.
