Sure they can. Why are the likes of Odoffin Humphreys and Wilks going to risk breaking a leg now for nowt. They'll do the basic minimum. We can't blame them really

Some of them haven't risked breaking a sweat this season. Hopefully that will change if we get a good news announcement this week.

The season is done. For the ones it applies to why would they risk a potential signing bonus and an improved contract elsewhere? Anyone in their boots would do the same.

The ones under contract for 2025-6 or some of the lesser regarded players out if contract might put in a shift if they feel there's a chance of an extension.

CAM, sorry but I have to disagree. We have a potential new Manager in the offering and you say it's the norm for the players to shut off/down and do the norm so as not to get injured?

In the meantime in the last 4 games they don't put the effort in and we suffer 4 bad defeats. What kind of image does that paint the board of this new 'potential' Manager all because of certain players not putting the effort in?

Fans meanwhile think long and hard about renewing etc, it could happen so for me, there's 4 to go so all the players should get that effort put in for the wage they are claiming.

They may also be on win bonus appearance bonus league position etc all sorts of things a decent agent would put into a players contract so plenty to play for

Players might be thinking if the ST holders don't give a sh!t why should we?

I would have thought that we have a mixture of players, those putting themselves in the shop window so putting in the effort and those currently comfortable enough not to bother
