    Notts' Saturday night games

Somebody asked on another thread if we'd played on a Saturday night before.

There were of course quite a lot of Saturday tea-time kick-offs when we were in the NL for tv broadcast (just after 5pm) but for those I have down as 6pm or later....

    Sat 18/Dec/2021 FA Trophy ALTRINCHAM W 2-1 - 7:30pm
    Sat 12/May/2018 PO SF coventry city D 1-1 - 7:30pm
Sat 08/Apr/1972 3rd tier torquay united D 1-1 - 7:30pm (Torquay regularly played on Saturday nights in the 1970s)
Sat 29/Mar/1969 4th tier newport county D 0-0 - 6:30pm (This was to avoid a clash with the Grand National, which became a huge TV event following the infamous 1967 race)
    Sat 30/Aug/1952 2nd tier NOTTINGHAM FOREST W 3-2 - 6pm

So tomorrow will probably be the latest we've ever kicked off on a Saturday.

A 6pm game against Forest in the days before floodlights - I’d love to know the story behind that kickoff time.

Well it was August so no need for floodlights. Notts CCC were playing Warwickshire at Trent Bridge on the same day, that may have been the reason

It can get quite murky by 8pm on a late summer’s day, but take your point. Just under 40,000 there that day, too.

Perhaps we could tell Sky Sports to sod off.

Munto would have done, rightly so if you can afford it. COYP
