Could be part of a Guehl deal. I agree, he is worth a lot morr than that - higher than Longstaff I'd say. Certainly worth more than that to us until we find a replacement.

With the rumour mills is in full spin, the latest story is linking Willock to Palace.
We're looking to upgrade that midfield area. I wouldn't be sad if he goes.
Valued at ?23.75million / ?28million.
I've heard some nonsense that he'll go for as little as ?15million. Contracted to 2027 so 2 yrs left on his current deal.
The lad has suffered with some injuries this season but the previous 2 years before he was great!
He, like Longstaff is a ?20million Premier League quality player all day long.
We ship those two out for a combined ?40m we can bring in serious upgrades to compete with our excellent first team Midfield 3.
What's everyone's thoughts about shuffling the midfield pack and Willock heading of back down south?
Could be part of a Guehl deal. I agree, he is worth a lot morr than that - higher than Longstaff I'd say. Certainly worth more than that to us until we find a replacement.
They'll be 2 separate deals. Simply for PSR reasons. Like the Anderson to Forest and the Greek to NUFC. They are separate deals purely for accounting reasons.
In reality 'swaps' are very rare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxVctUN1GFM
Even if two clubs to exchange players. 95% of the time the deals are completed independently of one another.
Worth baring in mind when you see garbage Transfer Rumours.
Case in point the Tonali to Juve, Douglas Luiz to NUFC 'swap deal' - utter lies. We've all seen Tonali's interviews where he's said he's loving life on Tyneside, have a great relationship with Howe & loves the support from the Toon army during his rough 10 months.
Swaps are BS.
Aye, didn't mean a straight swap, more an understanding if Palace pay 20 for Willock say and we pay 40 for Guehl type of thing, 2 deals, same outcome only 20 mill sctually changes hands snd the timing may be a bit different.
Aye man, I get ya!
that's exactly how it will work out on the books. The accounts will show a P&L balance sheet of - 1/5 of the total spend each player.
Guehi 40m - 40 / 5 = 8
5 seasons of ?8m amortised over the length of the 5 yr contract. so ?8m will go in the red column. However, including the legal & Agents fees & signing bonuses it's more likely in the first year to be ?10million, with the flat ?8m for years 2 - 5.
Willock ?20m - Sales/out transfers are booked in full in the tax year / financial year as a lump sum. This is regardless of whether the full ?20m is paid in one lump sum or in installments. Unless the accountants want to break it up and spread it over the 2,3 or 5 yr contractual period.
So for these two transactions the balance sheet could read
+?20m - ?10m = a profit on this deal is +?10million.
I could see Willock at Palace being total honest and I think he'd do well there as well.
I'd want a replacement in before losing him though. We're not strong enough in depth to lose him and then our replacement deal fall through.
The Andy Carrol protocols are a thing of the past.
Signing a single Vernon Anita in a window when we've qualified for Europe is never gonna happen again.
The minimum will be 1 in 1 out as we upgrade our squad to bring all 25 to like-for-like standard. Additions to fill out the squad are precisely that additions.
Willock leaving will trigger a quality replacement. There is a long list, Miley isn't the Willock replacement as he plays off the right as Eddie Howe has confirmed.
So, we'll no doubt bring in a player who prefers that Left CMF role.
If we could get the Joe Willock of 2 years ago back, I'd rather keep him to build a strong squad.
Just wonder if all his injuries mean we've passed peak Willock.
