Who told us the 1st July, though? Not the club. That date is just fans speculating.

I have seen it so many times on this site and lots of comments in the press about the 1st of July is the date because of financial issues that we can start to buy players

The presumption was that as soon as the PSR deadline passes the club will have a line of players cued up for medicals.

Eddie's comments were 'We have to move fast as good players don't stay on the market long'.

That doesn't mean that the players we are targeting this window are available right now. Isak wasn't available at the start of the window when we signed him. That is why the club negotiated a deal for Joao Pedro. When Sociedad contacted the club and told them Isak was available the worked immediately to secure the signature and ended their interest in Pedro.

People need to calm down. this is not Football Manager/Fifa. The Media is all a lie. The press was wall to wall coverage that Bummo was nailed on. The club knew before the end of the season that he wanted 250k a week. They haven't put a single bid in for Bummo. The Press reports were constantly saying the club were in negotiations.

    So dumb.

The bid for Pedro was a lowball as Chelsea hadn't bid and the deadline was coming up. It was a punt. Didn't happen. So what? Not our top target as the club knew that he wanted Chelsea. Delap wanted 200k a week. That's stupid money for a 1 season wonder.

I don't understand why anyone is getting emotional when the club will bring in the right players for Eddie & the squad.

Whatever their name is, which ever club / country they come from it doesn't matter. I'd prefer us to sign players we don't know for less money on smaller salaries because it is sure that if the are joining the club they will be good enough with the potential of the likes of Isak, Bruno, Hall & Tino.

    We don't sign duds.

Yeah, early days. Unless we put stupid money on the table there will be no early moves I reckon, clubs and players will hold out as long as they can for the best deal - I would anyway. Confident we will bring in at least 3 good players and the right ones too.

Not even a bead of sweat yet.

Mind, whoever we sign, we'll start the season with Murphy on the wing, Schar at CB and Pope in goal. 🤪

This just means that next summer bottom half Prem clubs will have a bunch of discounted players looking to leave a relegated club.

    Agreed Rag.

As I understood it, 1st July was when we could start, because of money situation. Fact we haven't got players in doesn't mean we're sitting still.
