On this day in 1712 the World's Ist steam engine was created in Dudley by Thomas Newcomen .
It's sad that we have lost all our great industry, engineers , inventors and grafters in the Black Country .
But we can celebrate our past .

Promotion of the area is a good thing but I won't be doing anything any different today as to a normal Monday.

Indeed Soulman! With my Dad's side of the family rooted in the Black Country I've always felt a strong connection to the region and have done quite a bit of research into the area and its history.

Living in Norfolk now, its a bit hard to get hold of Bathams or Holdens so will have to settle for a celebratory Banks's instead. Anyhow, hope you are feeling better and have a bostin' Black Country Day!
