    Shola - Loan Manager

I know that I've raised this before but yet again Shola's decisions as loan manager are hurting us.

    -----------

Newcastle United players Antonio Cordero, Trevan Sanusi, Travis Hernes and Joe White have all still yet to start a league game this season out at their respective loan clubs

    --------

Now this has to fall on Shola's shoulders - he has arranged these loans, we need these players, playing so we can either sell for a profit or to move into our first team squad.

Other than Anderson and maybe Minteh I can't think of any successes he has had at loaning players.

I know that some blame has to fall on them, not forcing their way in etc. but equally if we think that might be an issue, we should look at a slightly lower league and have them playing regularly.

With the new CEO in place and DoF I think Shola's days maybe numbered and I think it is a good thing, this loan manager role is so pivotal in our new way of bringing in quality and their path that it needs a top person behind it.

Not a great player, local lad etc. Who got the role because he was cheap and it allowed Ashley to get a fan fave on side.

Yep, that last bit is key to his appointyment-he was cheap and was an Ashley arse-licker.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, it could be argued that maybe they just aren't good enough to start for these clubs and that raises a whole other issue of whether or not our academy is fit for purpose...

Sure, it's pointless sending players out on loan and then for them to sit on a bench. They will also be thinking that it's hopeless and pointlesse even returning to NUFC after a spell like that, because how are they ever going to make an impact here if they can't get a game at a lower level elsewhere.

Find some mid-table/low-table Championship clubs and send the players there. Those clubs usually don't have endless amounts of ressources to invest but they play in three tournaments and with a packed schedule. And the level is very good for a young player.

The fact he was the ?mackem slayer? should have (but is) no bearing on his current role. Whether the players share the blame is not relevant - he is responsible. Agree with everything Jammy said - not good enough. If it was a couple of players, then that?s normal but the list of failed loans is too long.
For me, Cordero is the most disappointing.

Why does it take so long to realise they aren’t getting games, and SURELY we should have a minimum no of games included in the loan deal, not rocket science shola!

You would think he might not survive this 100 day review?

I hope he doesn't - as stated above.

We can't afford to arrange loan deals where our players sit on the bench.

Hopefully not, and surely the days of jobs for the boys will be over. They must bring in someone with a track record and big contact list to do this critical role properly.

You need to understand the respectful situation of Shola's up bringing. He's a devout Christian and his beliefs rule his way of life and it would be disrespectful for him to have acted in any other way to Ashley.

He may even believe Ashley to be the dirtiest B*****D on earth but because of the way his parents have brought him up he would never express it as such.

    I understand all of that.

Doesn't take away that he's not doing a great job though.

I also wouldn't expect him to come out and say words to that affect after but still doesn't take away that the loan deals he seems to lead on are being almost worthless to our future players.
