Too young really to have gone in 1968, alive yes, but too young.
I've been to many FA cup matches over the years but I always have a fondness for the 3rd round match against Everton at the Hawthorns back in 1989 (sat jan 7th).
I went with my two brother in laws to be, one a villa fan the other a blues fan.
Drove up to west brom in my tatty old mini, went drinking in west brom and then caught the bus to the ground to find
an absolute mass of people at the brummie trying to gain entrance.
Thankfully got in and believe the turnstiles were closed early.
Thought we were going to win the game against a star studded Everton side but unfortunately ended up drawing and losing the replay.
Ah the good old days.

The 1969 Semi-Final was probably the most memorable for the wrong reasons. Basically, nothing happened except for Bobby Hope hitting the crossbar and Allan Clarke scoring Leicesters winner. I was only talking to a mate of mine, a Leicester fan, recently and he said exactly the same thing that those were the only two incidents of note in the whole game.
1-2 away win against Premier League Sunderland at The Stadium of S hite during SGMs first promotion season. Left West Brom circa 05:00hrs for a midday kickoff and we bossed them for the majority of the game.
That was the day I was thoroughly convinced we were going to catch up with Wolves and gain promotion automatically. And we did with an ultimately unsuccessful FA Cup Quarter Final tie at home against Fulham to boot.
Those were the days my friends 😎.
Without doubt it has to be the 6th Round game (1978) against Cloughies Forest who hadn't been beaten for months and I WUZ THERE to witness 2 of the greatest footballing sides of the modern era. For those baggie fans who attended that day they will never forget the greatest atmosphere ever and to top it all was the wonder strike from the genius Regis who scored a fantastic winner, i doubt we'll ever see the likes again

1968. Sixth round second replay versus Liverpool (at Maine Road). Won 2-1. Astle and Clark.
1969. Sixth round versus Chelsea (Stamford Bridge). Won 2-1. Astle and Brown.
Memorable (not enjoyable) 3rd round at Home vs non-league Woking. (2-4) loss. Brian Talbot Manager. Their CF was a yard faster than all our defence. He was employed as a computer operator I think. I remember a fan running in front of the dugout stamping on his hat and scarf in front of Talbot
I started work in 1966 and lived in digs in 1968. (First match 1961) Couldn?t get tickets (or afford as well I guess) but my Mum knew an old lady who lived on her own and had a COLOUR TV. Fairly rare in those days, but I watched the final there with a mate. I remember how red all the faces in the crowd looked![]()
Those 2 only behind 18th May 1968 for me. Went to every game except Saints away.
I'll chuck in
69 Arsenal for that goal 45,354 watching
78 ManUtd aet
Sad thing is I'm struggling to think of a memorable one I've been to with my kids. 30+ years.
So many great memories and a few shockers.
What am I saying! My daughter has just reminded 3 of us were there 28th January 2007
In case anyone needs a reminder
