    What is Needed v Derby

Same team we played at Leicester so Campbell, Mowatt and Molumby back in and I would start Bostock with Price on the bench. Same formation - same positions and no f ucking about.

    Plus a miracle

I, alas, don?t think Ramsay will change ?his? system or tactics. Head coaches/managers nowadays tend to be stubborn and fulfilled with a high belief in their own capacity. Seen this so (too) many times. As it is now, the only way is down?

Exactly the side that I suggested with the exception that I would continue with Price, although I would have no problem with Bostock. Let’s face it, we played well at Leicester and deserved a win.

Seriously I think we?ll see a copy of the side and tactics used in the 1st half v Boro, it?ll be park the bus big style against the mighty Barcelona, whoops, Derby, a club like ours parking the bus against the likes of Derby, that?s how low we?ve fallen, I expect to see a formation of 6-4-0 and a borefest of epic proportions, this clown now in charge is another Wilfred Nancy, let?s hope we do the same as Celtic and get rid, a proper experienced Championship manager is what is required to just tweak things to get us playing, not some no hoper from a US joke league

A real quick turnaround between these matches this week.
I suspect more of the same but hopefully he puts molumby and mowatt in midfield and stop teams just walking through us.

My own starting preference would be Griffiths, Campbell, Bielik, Phillips and Styles at the back, Molumby and Mowatt midfield, Mikey and Ollie Bostock on the wings and then Grant behind Heggabo. Tbh, I think we all think much within the same parameters simply because we have seen which players/formation have performed best. In times of trouble it seems prudent to stick with what you know rather than risk too much experimentation.

For all the totally understandable doom and gloom, I think we need also to stop and remind ourselves that this group of players can play and certainly have the ability to be achieving far more than they have. One of the glaring issues from last night was the lack of grit and determination and given our quite appalling run of losses of course an element of lack of self- belief and confidence will creep in. This is when leaders step in, whether from the head coach or from amongst the players themselves. One thing that won't help this however will be being also forced into playing an alien style of football with extremely little time to adapt and under a lot of pressure to achieve results.

I tend to agree with Swedish though and don't think that Ramsay will consider turning away from his differing approach and his interviews so far certainly don't indicate anything other than him wanting to impress upon them his own preferred formation and tactics.

If Ramsay persists like this then I think I would have preferred Morrison to carry on for a bit until a more proven manager could be found. At least he knows the players and which positions they are best suited to as well as being prepared to give our youngsters a chance. I know Al would be happy to see us rid of him because he sees him as being part of our problem but I'm not so sure and honestly don't know how much influence he has on the head coach in terms of selection or tactics. I thought Mozza's post-cup game interview was pretty spot on.

Not much time for a re-set before Derby so let's hope Ramsay can prove us all wrong!

Good post! To be honest Abella and Myhill worry me more and if it had been the difference in hindsight between Ramsay and Morrison - I could have been swayed towards Morrison until the end of the season. I thought Ramsay was too similar to Mason. Ramsay will be here to stay now even in league 1 if it comes to that - at least that league is equivalent to the MLS!

We all have our particular preferred individual player in the various positions. For me, there is not a significant difference in quality between many of them. Certainly commitment, spirit and indeed grit (as mentioned) must be considered and we should not be frightened to bring on the youngsters.

Notwithstanding all that, it is paramount that the players fully understand what is expected of them individually, and not asked to play in an unknown position.

We are in a dog fight now, and trying new formations are not suitable in the upcoming games.

Good post and spot on, but you know what these modern day ?managers? are like, stubborn and refuse to change their philosophy
