Thread: Audit of the squad.

  1. #1

    Audit of the squad.

Dubravka - great shot stopper but has deficiencies with one on one and set pieces and also in the twilight of his career.
Walker - Clearly long past his sell by date in the PL.Retirement in the summer.
Worral - Slow and weak.Championship at best.
Humphries - tactically inept and frequently gives the ball away.Championship at best.
Pires - Cannot tackle, cannot head the ball, frequently gets disposessed.League 1 at best.
Sonne - good Championship prospect but have not seen enough of him to be sure.
Esteve - good top end Championship defender.Has been exposed at times in the PL for his inability to head the ball in either box.
Roberts - Good Championship defender - missed his energy this season.
    Tuanzebe - Championship at best.
Ekdal - Journeyman defender - Championship at best.
Laurent - totally exposed in this league.Slow, clumsy and gives the ball away all too often.Lower Championship/League 1 at best.
Cullen-good Championship player but too small for the PL.
Florentino - Lightweight and often looks indecisive.Too weak for even the Championship.
Ugochukwu - Not good enough for PL.Championship at best.
Hannibal - Great skills but missing something and a loose cannon.Maybe PL if he can control his temper.
Edwards - Great skills possible lower PL club would be interested.
Tchauma - Big lad but hopeless in the PL just runs round like a headless chicken then falls over like one.Championship at best.
Broja - Failed experiment.Too slow and injury prone .
Foster - was not good enough when we signed him even for the Championship.Way out of his depth in the PL.
Anthony - Good Championship player - too lightweight for the PL.
Hartman - Some glimpses of quality but not enough for me.Championship again or back to European league.
Flemming - good Championship player.Cannot hold the ball up and disappears for a lot of games.PL a step too far.
Amdouni - Good player and we should get a decent offer for him.
JBL - He wasn?t good enough first time around and this season has proved why.League 1 at best.
Barnes - Retire Ashley. We love your attitude but the body is past it.
    Beyer - Crocked
Tresor - Definitely a good player but does not want to be here and under Parker who could blame him.Back to Europe.
    Koleosho - Back to Europe.
    Obafemi - Leave ASAP please.
    Ramsay - Crocked.
Hountondij - Championship at best or back to Europe.
    Delcroix - Championship at best.

If anybody thinks we will get good fees for offloading any of this bunch of duds think again after the performances this season and ParkI reckon the only player on that list that might get over 10m is Edwards, Amdouni and possibly Esteve.
We are in deep dodo.I reckon the club is potentially facing a financial crisis.

Parkers inept tactics, team selections and substitutions will not help the valuations.

Pretty fair summing up imo. Nothing I would argue with.

Florentino (obligation to buy with conditions), Laurent, Dubravka, Hladky and Barnes are I believe out of contract on 30/6/2026.
Cullen, Ekdal, Beyer, Roberts & Walker are all contracted to 30/6/2027 with additional one year options for Cullen & Roberts.
Hannibal, Foster, Amdouni, Pires, Tresor & Worrall are all contracted to 30/6/2028.
Hartman, Anthony, Flemming, Edwards, JBL & Weiss are contacted to 30/6/2029.
Ugochukwu, Esteve, Tchaouna & Broja have contracts to 30/6/2030.
    (Details from the Transfermarkt website).

I would expect Hannibal, Hartman, Florentino & Ugochukwu to get fees of 10m in addition to the three you listed CiB but your bleak assessment of our overall position is probably not too far wide of the mark.

With respect to you all how do you know what this squad of players is capable of - we?ve seen nothing but Parker?s tactics and his backwards negative tactics.

I refuse to believe that all of them are as poor as you all make out - some are going through the motions it?s just the owners can?t see past Parker?s drivel he?s spouting out and the very poor performances he?s in charge of.

I was looking at this army from the aspect of who we are likely to retain on the playing side following relegation and which players could be sold to raise money. How long Parker remains as manager is still not clear but whoever is in charge next season there will undoubtedly be a clear out of players.

I am with you on this Army. A better man would get far more from this lot than Parker. I still think that we won't have a problem in raising 70 million from the annual fire sale, and reducing the wage bill to a modest 45 million.

Flemming must be worth 20 million, hasn't he scored 8 league goals, with limited game time?
If Norwich can get 22 million for the ginger wizz, Flemming must be worth at least the same

CiB is always super negative on everything Burnley

    Negative or realist BC?
Valuations go out the window if a club HAS to sell their best players for lack of funds.I sincerely hope you are right but if Pace cannot afford to sack Parker(which appears to be the case)then Parker stays next season and many fans will not renew season tickets to watch the schoite he serves up which will only make the financial situation worse.
The fire sale will have to also be quick so that the manager can get a new squad(again)assembled and ready for the Championship slog.
Therefore logic says a lack of funds and the necessity for speedy deals will lead to prices way below any valuations.

We are in a similar position as last time when we had to cut our cloth accordingly. All buying clubs know that relegated clubs have to sell on relegation, with this summer will be no different

The fire sale won't be quick, it will drag onto the end of the window when the big deals will be done

If you remember Parker put a squad together in the last 2 weeks of our last championship campaign, and I expect something similar this time

You could be right BC although I honestly dont see any Berge or Odabert in our current squad that we will get decent money for.

12 months ago, the sky was virtually the limit of what we could have got for Esteve, but since he's failed to 'train on' in the PL his value must have dropped. I'd imagine we're looking at 20m max now, chuck in Hartman and Florentino and we might rake in 50m, would that be enough to keep Alan happy and prevent a fire sale ?
