    George Cooper goes Posh

Personally I wish him well. Maybe a different style of management will suit him - as it has so many who have left the Alex. It's a step up.

Good luck to him and it means more cash that the academy has produced

Nets the club with a modest fee with the add on's something we may have struggled with at a tribunal.

Think the club has done really well getting rid of the " One goal Wonder" hope they told Posh we have more under achievers coming through also,if the offer is right they could buy one get one free, before the club sleep walks into none League playing them.

What a depressing reaction from itwasin and paddock refugee ! I think the contribution that George has made in his first team journey will be seriously missed. He is not the next Raheem Sterling, but he has a really special left foot and I think he could have a decent career ,probably as high as the championship, and even earn Crewe some sell on money.

    Depends on one's POV..

He wouldn't sign an extension and so should he get clapped for leaving?

If he really wasn't that good, we did well to get a fiver for him..

He should think himself lucky to probably get three times his wages here being where we are in the league.

Why do clubs say an 'undisclosed fee' anyway as it has to be declared sometime? Could it be it would be an embarrassment for the selling club or indeed the buying club? 6 figures speculation could be at least 100K OR 999K but somehow think its nearer to the former but again that is not going to fund the academy much is it...We need at least 760K per season to do that...

If he did go for less than 300K imo that would be a failure of expectation by the club itself. IMO at least bearing in mind how much they need to break even.

A six figure sum for an Academy graduate would seem to be about par these days. That said, Cooper has come through the Academy, played a fair number of first team games and has moved to a club in a higher division. In the same way the Academy bolsters the first team squad, so some of the graduates move on up and bring in badly needed revenue. Yes, the sale of Academy graduates does not necessarily pay for the cost of the Academy each season, but the graduates underpin the first team squad. Not all will make the grade and not all will progress beyond the division Crewe is playing in - a reality certainly not unique to the club.

Spot on Objective. One of those contributors has nothing good to say about Crewe Alex or it's players. In truth, George Cooper has been very good for us. Stats don't lie. 10 goals and 14 assists last season and probably as many assists already this season. To say that he won't be missed is both insulting and ridiculous in equal measure. With support like this it is a wonder anyone will want to play for us!!
