The only stat a striker worries about is goals per game. Doesn't matter how accurate or how many he has in a game, stats hide alot of stuff, a tame header or shot straight at keeper..its still a shot on target
Interesting article and in YEP - approach this season seems to be do what we did last season but better. Stats even better that at same point last season.
Long may Pat Bamford continue to score but if you look at his shots on target it is about 43% which is much lower than other strikers hitting the net. That said if we create more chances for him .....

I was looking at his stats the other day after listening to a TSB podcast. Yeah his shots on target ain't great but as Stomper said if he continues to score then everything will hopefully equal itself out.
Whilst I was dreading the season in a way when he was our only striker, I think he is playing so much better than last season. Seems to want to get in and put his body on the line more.
Wonder if he was a bit timid last season cause of the 2 knees injuries he suffered?
I hope his confidence is starting to go through the roof and he will bang in more, especially want to see him do well at ER, but every home game there will virtually be 11 players behind the ball.
Big game on against Swansea at weekend, this is the biggest game of the season so far, hopefully we get the 3 and can create a gap to the rest.
Shots on target as a stat is all well and good, but if they all happen to be right in the midriff of the opposition 'keeper, then they don't really matter.
Is it possible that his lack of "accuracy" is down to him trying to place the ball away from the goalkeeper and just missing?
That could also explain why his success rate for those on target is higher?
Just saying, like.
( Has no idea, obviously)
