    Pablo Amero

    this is new

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is looking to reinforce his defensive options having lost Joey O'Brien to injury in the goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

With O'Brien set to be on the sidelines for between 10 to 12 weeks with a dislocated shoulder, Allardyce has moved quickly to identify Armero as his main target to replace the injury stricken Republic of Ireland international.

Armero, 27, was on the verge of joining AC Milan on a six-month loan deal earlier this month in a move that would have seen Kevin Constant go in the opposite direction.

However the deal fell through when Constant rejected a move to the Stadio San Paolo in favour of staying at the San Siro.

According to reports in Italy, West Ham are now in pole position to land Armero, who only joined Napoli permanently in the summer having spent the final six months of last season on loan at the club.

Would be a top signing imo, even on loan

Very recently linked with a 15M move to Milan.

Doesn't it worry you that this is all a prelude to selling Morrison though John?

    looking good.

West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign Pablo Armero, Sky sources understands.

The Hammers lost defender Joey O'Brien to a dislocated shoulder earlier this week, which is likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

Now West Ham have wasted little time in agreeing a deal with Napoli to sign Colombian Armero.

Napoli already have a deal lined up for Faouzi Ghoulam, meaning Armero is being allowed to leave.

Armero is due to arrive in London on Friday ahead of completing a deal before the deadline closes. - view external link

    we shall see, or not

West Ham United are this afternoon (Fri) in fierce negotiations to sign Napoli's Pablo Armero.

SportsDirect News understands that talks have been going on throughout the day with the player's agent and that a deal should go through very soon.

But everybody at the club was keeping their cards close to their chest having already had problems in losing striker Lacina Traore earlier in the 'window' and seeing Saint-Etienne Max Gradel's potential move flounder earlier today.

However, a senior source close to the negotiations said the club was hopeful it could get the deal done before the end of the day.

Armero is still in Naples and should the two sides agree will have his medical in Italy before travelling to the United Kingdom.

And there will be no problems with a work permit as he has played in 93% of Colombia's internationals.

The pacey and powerful 27-year-old was described as an outstanding operator by a source close to the deal.

    He told SportsDirect
