The game of the working class is lost forever. Hijacked by the money men and will only grow with the elite.

It will only get more commercialised, so no chance of it ever being the working man's game ever again, sadly.

Over the last few years with Oligarch/Sheikh owners, player wages in the hundreds of thousands a week, and total disconnection between that player and us and that player and his social and moral responsibilities, Agents, Ticket prices, Kick off Times just to get me started, this Season has almost been a breath of fresh air!
It's such a simple game, or was!

It's gone too far now Eve, as you say, this season has been good, ticket prices cheap and players connecting with fans again.

At the top end of football, money rules, Sky and the media try and ram it down people's throats how good they think they have been for the game. I've never known so many clubs go into administration since the set up of the premier league. I predict a few more will go to the wall. So man

Def lost forever. Having ****agers in the house and still being in touch with the youth of today, ask any of their mates why would you want to be a footballer and 99 percent will say because of the money not for the love of the game...unfortunately you also have the wannabe wags already eyeing up the huge pay packets, fame etc. My dad was a proper working mans player, he would give up all of his spare time just to play a game, even when he was ill. Unfortunately so much so that he died at the tender young age of 25 after a heart attack on the pitch and pneumonia he didn't know he had god bless him.

It's gone forever at the high levels of football. But you can still find it in the lower levels. Might not find as attractive football down there, but you'll find real men with real love for the game giving their all on the pitch in front of fans that care for their local club. But the intimate bond of a club and fans in the Football League is a dream lost forever.

It's the same in pro sports everywhere. You used to be able to relate to most of the athletes you watched. They didn't make an inordinate amount of money more than the average Joe. Now there's so much stratification b/w the fan and the athlete that they're more movie star celebrity than they are local hero.

All true but how many on here are gagging to get back in the Greedy League? Match day prices through the roof, matches any day from Friday to Tuesday, KO times anytime from 12-15 to 8pm, programmes up to a fiver, food and drink in stadiums 5 star hotel prices, players won't come for under A?50K per week minimum and all we will be is cannon fodder for the top 6 and fighting relegation from day one.Is it worth getting promoted? Probably yes because you always want to just see how good your team is despite the heartaches.

Yep, you never know how high you can go and Everton have shown that you can qualify for continental football without a massive budget. Though I don't know if even that will last with the size of the purses of Chelsea, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manu< and Tottenham. It's at a point where a club like Wolves should celebrate finishing inside the top 10 like they just won a CL spot.

I want to get back to the Prem becaus

Of course we want to get back to the Prem, but it has usually been more fun in the Championship, in my experience. As long as the team is constantly being improved, I'll take it as it comes. The Prem should be inevitable then.
