Have said it before and will say it again but I think the biggest loss overall will be if SM moves. Can't blame him as the Managers role is generally pretty short term and he needs to think about his career. Suffice to say with Steve in charge for the next season I feed really positive about how things will go including the support and investment from the owners. With another change in Manager It would need to be a very special Manager to inspire the same optimism that Steve M has brought. Who else could have brought the squad from middle table to serious promotion challengers and with a few loan players but mainly by bringing on the current squad to new heights.

Apologies for some of my spelling. Suffice to say felt really gutted Sunday (our time) but my wife kindly left me alone, especially as an Arsenal supporter she really wanted to spruke about the FA cup win. Anyway as per previous post have gotten over it and while I would have wished for a win am still confident for the next season with Steve M in charge.

He said he would have walked to Derby. Surely he wouldn't walk away so soon. Would be high risk - a bad start at Southampton and he wouldn't last long.

He would stupid to leave something that has clearly repaired his reputation so quickly, so soon. You couldn't blame him for going if approached but I think he has more sense than that and has learnt over the years that just because there's a "bigger" job available, doesn't mean it's always the right job.

Please God don't let this happen!?! Just as I was starting to look on the bright side after the Play Off defeat, and with the club seemingly showing intent with Thorne, this bombshell gets thrown into the mix.

Hopefully either Mac, Rush or someone else at the club in a position to know will come out and officially deny this soon!?!

He won't be going anywhere guys.

It's testament to our season that other clubs will look at our players and our manager. Steve is at a club he knows, one that he has an affinity and fondness for and he's loving it. If things don't pan out in the next year or two then obviously he'll be tempted if a club in the Premier League come calling. Who wouldn't.

But he's only been here for less than one season, he's not going to jump ship first time out. The only way he might be tempted was if one of the big clubs wanted him and I don't think I could blame him for being interested if that happened. But with all due respect to Southampton and others (West Brom for example) they most certainly don't fall into that category.

If we don't go up next year then 'possibly'. If we don't go up the season after then fairly likely. But definitely not now. There's more chance of us signing Wayne Rooney on loan!!!

Can't see him going anywhere to be honest. He'll at least have one more crack at promotion with us, at the very least.

Southampton are going nowhere, they are about to lose their best players, Lambert has been fantastic as always but age will get him, they are questionably run, poor history of sacking managers, are bloody miles from anywhere and they can only go one way next year and that is down.
This year was a lucky break for a new manager who inherited a great crop of young players who gelled.

I guess if he does go, there is a ready made replacement.

Like SM this guy took a team from lower mid table obscurity and the threat of relegation to the upper echelons of the division. He also took his team to Wembley unsuccessfully. His appointment here would cause at least one dcmad member to have orgasms, albeit many others to commit ritual suicide.

Ladies and gentleman, allow me to present our next manager, the return of Nigel Clough.
