I am the same as you, Crewe everytime. I am watching the Spain/Holland game at the moment, good gane but there is no sense of partisanship and therefor passion from me. I am looking at the Mad site at the same time which says it all.
Just thinking about the comments about the standard of football we have seen at Crewe over the last 50 years from the Championship to bottom of the old fourth division and as the World Cup has come around once more, IF you could choose between watching the so called best players in the world on the Television week in and week out or watch your local team play Vale, Shrewsbury or Tranmere, what would you choose? The 'standard' of football should be head and shoulders better, but would that make a difference?
Personally I don't ever watch Match of the Day nowadays and haven't for a long while as it does nothing for me. My next door neighbour has a ST at Man City and can't figure that out with the Alex Ground a mile away. Presumably it must be something about the higher standard of the PL? Can't think he has any so called'loyalty' there though. Maybe I'm wrong and don't understand some things. Its possible!
Can't get too excited about Saturday. How about you??
BTW, I really admire

I still watch MOTD most weeks, and FLS after that, but that's because I love football.
I watched a bit of Mexico earlier and most of Spain/Holland just now, (Robben? - wow!), and will prob take a butcher's at Chile in a minute for the same reasons!
But nothing beats supporting your own team week-in, week-out!
And nothing beats watching up and coming honest professionals over the over-paid prima donnas in the Prem too!
I doubt you'll get many on here disagreeing with you on this one, Mike![]()
I wonder if the people with most enthusiasm for the WC amongst Alex fans are of a younger generation? Not a criticism, just a query. My own excitement about WC started to decline from about 1990 Italy - just getting older I suppose - bah humbug.
Two areas of football are worth watching for me.
Firstly, the mighty Alex and I think that no matter which league club you support (and for whatever reason you support that team) then that will always be the case for most fans.
Secondly I enjoy watching international football, especially the World Cup. The latter may have lost some of it's mystique with the influx of top internationals to the PL and, especially, the South American players now plying their trade in Europe. Looking forward to Brazil, Argentina, Mexico et al and the special brand of football they played and only seeing it every 4 years was great. The same was true of the emerging African countries in the 80's and 90's.
I guess its the fact that familiarity breeds contempt; we now see most of these players in the never ending Champions League, surely the dullest, most predictable competition around. I still enjoy the World Cup, and this one has got off to the most wonderfully entertaining and controversial start
I ai`nt no spring chicken, but I love the World Cup,but am reduced to watching it on my laptop(WIFEOriginally Posted by Teammoo
)but putting my foot down, for the Engerland matches, watching on HD widescreen.
