Thread: Singing National Anthems

    Singing National Anthems

Last night only Hart was singing with any passion and feeling . The rest , including Gerrard either didn't bother or mumbled ,with mouths barely moving .

Ok, maybe they did ' nt know the words ! but in comparison to Uraguay the England players looked like they did 'nt give a toss about our National anthem.

The only excuse is that they wanted to remain focused on the game ahead...really ?

Other countries may go too far and I don't expect tears but I felt ashamed when the cameras panned along the England Team.

Am I alone in this feeling ?

Definitely on to something here. It can't be just coincidence.

I actually noticed that NONE of the Spain players were singing their national anthem and look how that turned out.

I reckon that the selection process for the Euros should feature a "judges houses" section like they used to do on xfactor to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm sure Robbie Williams would be willing to help.

Out of tune singing aside most of the tunes are feckin awful. The Costa Rican one went on for longer than Bohemian Rapsody and then the cheeky burgers decided to have another chorus without the band. More verses than the Ancient Mariner.

    Hail, gentle homeland!
    Hail, mother of love!
When anyone should attempt to besmirch your glory,
You will see your people, valiant and virile,
The rustic tool into a weapon transform.

It might help if they actually played the English national anthem rather than the British one.
