don't get excited kempo that's the Samsung variety not the transvestite flavour
anyway .. heres a tale that is either spooky or just a step too far with technology.
I have a large open plan living room and dining room here which I have had to move my bed into and sleep while my bedroom was rewired replastered decorated etc, my laptop is on the settee and a Samsung led smart tv is in the corner.
when its bedtime and i have finished on the laptop I just put it in sleep mode turn the tv off and hit the sack.
anyway over the last two weeks I have been woken up in the middle of the night by the laptop switching itself on and more recently the tv coming onspoooooooooky

I had taken the tv remote to bed with me and thought I had caught it in the night, but the other night the remote was on the settee with nothing near it and the tv came on>:-)

I'm not entirely sure about the TV (might apply if it's got an internet input / wifi). But certainly for the laptop I can explain.
There is something called WOL (Wake On LAN).
If this is activated, which in most cases it is by default. If the router sends a packet of info to that device it will 'wake up'. If a 'magic packet' is being sent from the Router to the device it will wake up from sleep. Something (or someone), is trying to communicate with the device. This could be from inside the network (maybe a phone app), to ping the devices to see if they're still available for streaming video etc, or a whole manner of other things. For the laptop WOL can be turned off in your WiFi / LAN adapter settings in device manager, or the BIOS. For the TV I'm not sure if you can get to such settings (as I'm a leper and don't have one). It would 'tecnically' explain though why they are turning themselves on.
More concerning though is that someone or something from outside your network is

Yeah it's something stupid like 2-3am. I turn it off, the updates come out every second Tuesday of the month, so no need for it to be resources hogging every damn day.
