Great player Lion1 - straight speaker too, as he was when I met him as a youngster

He left us for a brief spell at Pal@rse

and was instrumental in the 5-0 drubbing of Manure Utd

I can hear it now -

    "ROGERS FOR ENGLAND!"

But sadly he never played for England

His shop still stands and he used to have a building firm too but not sure that is still going tho

He came to my parents house and gave them a quote

Never used him as he was damn expensive

    re: Don rogers

My first match was Swindon v Oldham at the CG in December 1966, i stood on the Town End and we won 6-3 and a young lad who played on the right wing that day ran them ragged and scored a hat trick...his was Don Rogers! What a great player he was for us and surely one of the greatest players never to play for England? That was the era of Ramsey's wingless wonders. I don't think we will ever see the likes of him again at Swindon.

    Thanks for the link Andy.
