I hate to stir but Im just wondering;honestly how many fans would have us lost ( as we did last nite) so we can concentrate on our league form..are now regretting their thoughts...Im an oldie and would have loved a good ;even though league cup; cup run...especially now a trip to Stamford might have happened..and to see Mouriniho...

Very good question Jas - yet again.
Personally I want the best of both worlds (don't we all), but after the paucity of entertaining football anything resembling Tuesday's performance would do me, league or cup.
A cup run used to be largely about bolstering club coffers: today it's about giving us fans something to smile about.

Dreadful title to this thread. I thought someone, with Steve Holland's connivance, had fixed up an emergency home friendly to fill the void on September 6. X-D

watched the draw live last night (not sure why... we're out!), and was initially gutted when Bolton drew Chelsea.

However, I refer back to a comment I made on an earlier thread... as long as the performance from Tuesday acts as a catalyst for improvement in league performances, I really won't mind.

Plus a trip to stamford bridge wouldn't have been good for the old bank account!

exactly why I mentioned it..it still would have been great to play the reserves from Chelski...why bother going in any cups then...

Agree over the distraction, but how interesting the other night would have been withh 3000 Alex fans getting the team going and into the next round for as big a pay day as you could imagine.

maybe a few directors would have gone to their first Crewe game, albeit at Stamford Bridge.

just shows the risks of picking fans pockets at 17.50 a throw for short gain (I doubt we actually made money tbh) and throwing a bigger pot away in the next round !
