    Holiday suggestions

Me and the Mrs are looking at getting away for a couple of weeks next month and want to go further afield than the Balearics/Canaries/Algarve/Greece/Turkey etc.

We are looking at either Cuba, Puerto Rico, Goa and Cape Verde.

Have any of you lot been to any of these places or know anyone that has and can give me some feedback on what they are like? I don't really trust the customer feedback on the travel sites and would rather hear from people who speak from experience.

Edit: FFS I posted this on the correct forum fgs...This site is ****ed!

Never been to puerto rico but been to D.R the next island along, beautiful country . If you like beaches, bars and restaurants cabarate is the place to go. Weak economy so you get a lot for a quid.

Don't know if that was an option for you but if not I would consider going there for sure.

Been to Dominican also and it rained virtually the whole time. Preferred Mexico - higher quality.

Would recommend Mexico but anywhere near the Caribbean at that time of year is a risk with the hurricanes.

Mexico is also good and highly recommended. Been there twice

Cabarete is hurricane proof it's situated between two mountain ranges

    ...but it's in Dominican Republic

Weak economy - abject poverty is more like.

Cabarete is a tourist area it is packed with bars and restaurants.

It is situated between two mountain ranges so time a hurricane reaches cabarete it will slow down to a mere tropical storm

I lived there for about four months loved it.

Of course it depends what sort of holiday you want but Mexico is also a good shout I fully agree with that .

Puerto Rico is excellent but a bit dangerous at the moment. St Martin in the Caribbean is one of my favourite islands. Half Dutch half French.

Where I live now is lovely too. Brilliant beaches.

My wife and I go to Goa regularly, however I would never recommend the place because it is such a "marmite" place.

    We love it...

I've heard Eastbourne's annual mobility scooter rally is an event not to be missed.

We've been to the DR and loved it! It is still an option we could go back.

That said 'coz we can just up sticks and go at a moments notice we've found a 14 night all inclusive to Cuba at a decent resort for 647 quid per person towards the end of November (Less chance of Hurricanes and the humidity would have dropped off significantly).

I'll do a bit more research but the main thing is my mrs has chronic condition (Lupus) and we have to plan accordingly. Insurance says though that Cuba's fine and they have no issues covering us for a trip there. Cuba looks stunning if obviously a bit ummm "rustic"..Fck it I wont care after a shed load of Cuba Libre's and Mohitos!

    Thanks for your feedback gents.
