A statement from the Well Society

    From the Well Society website...

"As we stated a couple of times in the past few weeks, we have been holding a number of meetings with individuals and the club over the future ownership and financial stability of the club.

The background to these talks is as follows.

As everyone knows, we were given until the end of November to raise £800,000 to keep the prospect of fan ownership viable, the ultimatum coming in a club statement released in May.

We realised that we would probably need a major input of cash and were – and still are – in talks with someone over a soft loan that would ensure we not only reached the total, but hopefully a higher total that would trigger the transfer of John Boyle’s majority shareholding to the Well Society.

However, earlier this month we were given new information that means we MIGHT need more money to underpin the club’s finances should we assume control.

Given we are very nearly at the cut-off point, we needed to act quickly to make sure that the cl

Another one for our older viewers [/quote] God you Are showing your age. Maybe that's the answer, we should get Alien Burt to take over as CEO. He couldn't do any worse.

What an absolute mess this has turned into how the fek do they expect to raise nearly 1 million quid when most well fans have put in more than there fair share. We really need to tout the club to someone something awful now before it's too late.

I hate to say it but after reading another post Admin could be around the corner and with the minus points and on current form 1st division is incoming.

I don't like the wording aswell it seems to place a guilty pressure in the fans to dip there hand into the empty pocket over and over this has turned into a total and utter farce. For me this has come far too late into the game and it might just might kill the club.

A total farce. We haven't got the fan base for this circus. We are only going one way. I don't know what's worse, our performance off the pitch or on it.

Not quite sure what to make of this letter.

On one hand you could interpret it as saying that not much has really changed with the exception of another financial loss this season; the Society still wants community ownership as opposed to the dangers a new owner might bring.

Alternatively, whilst the club's financial position is worsening as I've said above, John Boyle now wishes to sell his shares and there's a buyer waiting in the wings that the Society/Club doesn't particularly like. This scenario would be looming in the next month or two.

Not sure which one it is as the wording is somewhat ambiguous but maybe things will be clearer after tonight's meeting (hopefully).

In short is the club's ownership about to change imminently?

There is absolutely no sound reason why we should being headingbto Aministration. How difficult is it to know what our income snd expenditure is. If we end up in Admin there are people at the club who should be jaiiled.

And if the Club does transfer into fan ownership, then do we - the Well Society Members - carry the can if future losses are made ?
