That would be another nail in the coffin of the club,he has done hee haw with scotland, he would be better working with young boys, does not strike me as a first team manager

Must admit the same thought had crossed my mind when I heard it announced on R Scotland earlier.
However, he ain't the solution to a very big problem IMO.

Why do we think we have such a big problem ?

By and large it's the same group of players who secured 2nd last year.

Yes this season has been utter, utter gash but it should be within our gift to turn it around.

Don't get me wrong some of the players we've signed over last few years are IMO poor but it is the same group who got us into Europe last year.

With a decent gaffer (hopefully not one of the usual suspects) the data suggests we should get out of our current position. We should remember most other clubs in the league are equally poor on talent.

The truth is it's the league that's doomed, not solely MFC.

Not sure what Billy Stark has actually achieved. Not sure that he's done much with the Scotland set up. He's managed Morton, St Johnstone and Queens Park for short spells but hardly been a success in those roles. Given his age I hope he's a non starter.

    I'll ignore that ageist comment!

Anyway, Stark would be far from the top of my list. Still, I don't envy the guys who have to make the final choice.

    From today's BBC Gossip page:

Billy Stark was immediately installed as the 6-4 favourite to become the new manager of Motherwell following Stuart McCall's departure on Sunday after the former Queen's Park boss quit as Scotland Under-21 coach. (The Scotsman)

Exiting Scotland Under-21 coach Billy Stark has had his put forward for the Motherwell manager's job, but the club will not make their choice until next week and Fulham Under-21 coach Peter Grant, former Ross County boss Derek Adams and former St Mirren manager Danny Lennon are others interested. (The Sun, print edition)

Scotland assistant manager Mark McGhee has ruled out a return to Motherwell to succeed Stuart McCall, who resigned on Sunday.(Daily Express, print edition)

He did well at Queen's Park in fairness - victory over Aberdeen in the League Cup and promotion to the Second Division was a good effort there.

But his spell in charge of St Johnstone was a complete disaster and his record with Scotland U21s is far from impressive. He's right up there on the "definitely don't want" candidates for me.
