Where's the big bold brave attacking style gone?

I said it before and now I'll repeat it...since we hammered Watford for 70 minutes and lost 2-0 due to them bringing on two great subs...I feel the Gaffer has lost the bravado to let the team play freely with the attacking style and in the opposition's face attitude that we used to get back to back promotions...

We've no direction...we have players like Frecks playing too deep and not being allowed to express his style and it's apparent to all that it is killing his game...he looked so dejected at being subbed but the midfield today was a lost cause...Taylor started?? For those that went to Swillsbro you would know he tries but for who? He runs down blind alleys...doesn't pass when he should...doesn't cross when he should..I could go on...so why start him over Green? Taylor simply had a mare today from the start to when he was subbed...

The team have definitely lost their spark and courage ...we set off reasonably well at the start of the season but where oh where is that old team

if we are bold and attack at this level we will be picked off very easily on the counter. I appreciate your point totally but the manager is trying to collate enough points over the entire season and probably thought we could mop up the pressure and sucker them. It failed big time but we could have easily lost 3 nil being negative and maybe 6 nil if we had gone for it.

riccall...we 'may' be picked off but not all the time and surely it's got to be better than what we are delivering of late...if we play uptempo we get our boldness back it's amazing how confidence is boosted morale bounces back and our game plan changes...something's got to change...

Brin, I get the defensive first attitude on the road but at NYS we've got to attack teams. What is worrying we bought in a dozen or so players this summer plus the existing squad taking time to adjust I expected it to take time to gel. But we seem to be getting worse. There is no easy games at this level but clubs in real ruts like Bolton and Reading have taken points off us which isn't a good sign.

It's going to be a tight division this season and we are still in the mix to stay up. We need to back SE and the team starting next Saturday against Blackpool.

    Why?

Wednesday was there for the taking but for the entire 90 mins we played not to concede hoping to nick a goal. Wednesday are now 11 without a win and scored only 4 goals.

Brin, only having fun. I didn't think it's the dumbest...it's a decent argument but I don't agree with it.

I don't think we were that good against Watford.

We huffed and puffed but we didn't create much. Watford played well with in themselves, saw how the game was going and upped their game in the last twenty when our legs were tiring. The Watford game WAS significant though, not because it typified our supposed attacking style, but because it showed us how intelligent teams can expose our lack of quality. Watford were streets ahead of us that night and could have increased that gulf in class if they had played to their full potential.

The difficulty now for Evans is that our team will now have been watched by rival teams and managers. We might have caught a few on the hop early season but now the word is out about us and we need to find a more flexible approach.

We can't simply attack more because our defence, midfield and attack haven't got the quality (or confidence) to link u
