    Arrivals, departures & youth

    Hope everyone's well firstly.

Secondly, I wanted to raise the issue about who you all would let go/retain in the January window, unless we're planning to do all our business on emergency loans before Christmas...

We all know the managers transfer policy from the past 2 years, we basically try and sign a new team or words to that effect mid-season and push on, with some deadwood making way.

Who's the deadwood that gets the chop from you this time?

Hall - on a pay as you play (I think) and will be gone fairly soon.

Wordsworth and Taylor - I think both will go back to Ipswich.

Newton - probably join the rest out on loan to get some games.

Broadfoot - not had a run of games in his prefered position (did well at Hillsbro') but feel he'll be heading out as soon as a deal can be reached with Coventry or any other side interested.

    Brandy - pay him up.

Basically we need to free up a bit of cash to add quality and there's 6 players above that I can't see hanging around much longer. I w

    Good post deano

Tom lawrence is set to join very soon winger from leicester.

Regarding sending out our players I think your spot on but would keep Newton as Milsom is close to joining bury. Also now we have james at left back then I can see Sadler go out again. Brandy, hall I assume will also leave and wordsworth will surely be sent back to ipswich

Would love to see Mitch rose and nicky walker given more opportunities!!

    Welcome back deano.

I said on another thread if a young lad shows potential at least get them involved.Rose,Rowe,Yates should be at least on the bench. Our youth set up in the 1970`s was excellent so lets see what the younger players of today can give us, cant be any worse than a seasoned pro that's disinterested.

As for the deadwood I will let SE sort that out that's what he gets paid for.

Just to add I think the return to fitness of Becchio and also Richard Wood would both be welcome.

It's hard to think that Rose, Rowe or Walker could have offered less than some of the signings in the summer. Wood, who's presumably on first team wages, is expensive cover; Rowe could have offered as much as Wood has, on reduced wages and to our long term benefit.

In the same way, if Swift wasn't going to be a first team regular, wouldn't we have been better giving Walker the experience of being around the squad, getting a cameo here and there?

Developing players is getting harder for those clubs without tier 1 academies (like us). The best thing we can offer is a shot at the first team, which is miles away for most Premier League youth players. But if we'll prefer Man Utd's youth team above our own kids, then, actually, there's very little point anyone choosing to join us, or us even bothering to run a youth set up.

Who was the last first team regular that we produced?

Would definitely be giving Jerry Yates a chance, his potential is huge. Would also like Newton given a chance in Frecklingtons role, not that Frecks has been worse than any of the team, but something different is needed and thought Newton looked useful pre season.

Hope you've made/are making a full recovery deano.

Wasn't it Stan Laurel who used to say 'that's another fine mess you've got me into', I think that's a perfect description of our perennial transfer merry-go-round (which sits nicely alongside the roller-coaster).

There's a dozens we could get rid of without any adverse effect whatsoever on team performance. The key question is why were they brought in at all? Strip them out and what's left? Essentially our League 1 and 2 sides. So how does that correlate with our stated policy of only bringing in better quality players?

You got us into this mess Steve, you get us out of it.

(What's that I'm hearing? The rumblings of yet another major overhaul of the playing staff...?).

Good to see you back Deano I posted a similar thread on the other site on Sunday. Pretty much agree with all you have said, Iwas saying that we need a full back with pace ( either side) both current full backs are too much alike. We need a centre back and I would play him alongside Wood, who I think is the best of what we have got and is a good on the ball, we need to stop the hoof from the back. In addition some pace out wide would be handy. If we get Lawrence James and McGuire job done in the short term.
I fear there may be some truth in the Morgan wanting to go south rumours in addition out can go Badfoot, Milson, Tidser, Saddler, Brandy, Hall, Taylor and Wordsworth.
I also agree with you get Rowe, Rose , Yates and Walker involved.
In terms of who to sign.in Jan I assume all loans may be extendable until the end of the season, Bechio I imagine will also extend. SE likes a surprise so as well as Morgan don't be surprised if someone else goes.
Finally we may get a bid for Pringle if h

Rose was looking like he would be a very player until he got injured, would be good to see him back to see what he can do.

Unless it's changed Hall is pay as you play so it might be worth keeping him for cover for the time being if others are going to leave .

I can't see Milsom getting a game for us unless it's against some lower league team (cup)

I think we have some good players but for some reason (we all have difference opinions on that) at the moment it's not quite working.

We played against some good clubs at the start and did well (unlucky in some) maybe we need to have a look back at them
