    Motherwell Bois Food Drive

    Saturday 13th December 2014.

Motherwell Football Club were formed in 1886 when the 2 main work teams Glencairn and Alpha merged to create a club which could represent the town at a higher footballing level and for the past 128 years have been at the heart of the community.

Unfortunately in recent years unemployment has been on the rise within our community and recent studies show 1 in 4 children in the Motherwell and Wishaw area now live in poverty.

We believe that as supporters of Motherwell FC we have a duty of care to support, not only the football team, but the local community in these times of financial hardship.

The need for a united community which strives to work together has never been greater.

For this reason we have decided to organise a food bank collection which will take place before this Saturdays match at Fir Park between Motherwell and Ross County.

All donations will go towards Basics Food Bank which operates throughout North Lanarkshire.
    The aim of Basics

What a brilliant initiative by the Bois. In these current times of self-preservation, and "I'm allright Jack" attitudes, it's heartening to hear of our young fans doing something so worthwhile for the lesser priviliged in our community. I for one shall be donating several tins ... currently toying with the idea of dropping the season ticket in as well

Terrific idea guys, now it is up to everyone else to back these guys up. Even a couple of cans each would go a long way. May I suggest that you post this on Ross County's website as well. You never know they "May" want to get involved.

Because people that cannot afford kids are having them anyway, then expect the rest of us to pay for them.

I respect the initiative, and your right/desire to support it, but I won't be.

Good initiative at this time of year...but agree with Yazz to some extent. There are some very poor people across Scotland who do need help, but unfortunately many unscrupulous individuals are using food banks because they see it as something for nothing. No wonder there on the rise,

    ps I've never voted Tory
