    Society Chairman's report - part 2

Brian McCafferty's explanation of the journey that looks like ending up with Les taking control of the club.

Well worth the read. - view external link

You've really got to take your hat off to the likes of Brian McCafferty, whether a fan of the Well society or not, the time investment must be huge.

Its a silly wee point but it's actually quite refreshing to have ad Chairman of the club.

totally agree with Stevie on this one.

it must have been heartbreaking for these guys and Brian in particular to hear and read the negative comments that were around while they were trying to pull this together yet couldn't respond with detail due to the confidentiality agreement.

    well done to all involved

    Agree whole-heartedly. B McCafferty deserves a medal.
I was one posting here (along with several others), who were less than complimentary towards what was happening around 4 weeks back. Suffice to say, I'm willing to put my hands up and eat humble pie. We're not out of the woods just yet for sure, but I sense a level of optimism starting to resurface.

My comments don't mean I've changed my views about the Well Society. I still see it as a road to fan ownership and utter mediocrity.I am pleased the Les Hutchison seems to be taking the Well Society in a better business direction. No mater how its dressed up the original proposal of the the fan ownership / Well Society concept was a dead duck. I still do not look forward to the day the fans take control. My hope is Mr Hutchison or his family become engaged by the club / process / community and stay in for the long term.

Thats the problem. Currently there is only one firm alternative on the table and thats the Well Society route. Anything else is based on hope and you can't solve a business's immediate problems on that.

I do realise that , still doesn't mean I need to like the only option we have.

I love this dread of fans running the club. So can I ask who has been running the club for god knows how long. Ok LD wasn't a fan but the rest of the board was made up of fans Jim McMahon, Derek Weir, Andrew Wilson and the john Swinburns and Bill Dickies. Flow was just a fan and has work his way up to being General Manager. Can I point out most of the people who work at the club are fans and very dedicated people who put and incredible amount of free time for the love of our club. What ever you think of the well society there is no question that this is the way we must go at this moment in time and with the help of Les Hutchinson a sustainable buisness model can be drawn up. What Motherwell have managed to achieve is over the last 7 odd years is employ the right managers Mark McGhee Craig Brown Stuart McCall and now hopefully Baraclough. The first task for the society and Les is to some how convice the doubters. Invite them into the club show them around. Tell them what goes on. The cl
