Play Acting And Getting A Fellow Professional Sent Off

After seeing a replay of the Sako/Forestieri incident i find it strange, and i'm not jumping the gun here, but if proven that Forestieri play acting resulted in Sako getting his marching orders, then why shouldn't the Watford player get retrospective punishment?

These type of incident to me aren't needed in the game and leave a bitter taste when witnessing them.

I've been asking myself this question as long as I've been watching football: Exactly why is this put up with? What is so hard about reviewing the film and handing out fines and red cards? Once the message sank in, this kind of thing would end.

I saw the video. Unbelievable. The Watford player approached Sako and shoved him, not the other way around.

Yep. It shouldn't be that hard. It's cheating, plain and simple. We very well could have won if not for that. I have faith that Sako will not get punished further as he simply did absolutely nothing. But justice will not be full unless Forestieri is suspended and fined as well.

Sometimes the appeals panel feel that as the ref has seen the incident that the sending off will be upheld. But for me the football association and it's appeal committee can't hide behind the fact that the ref saw the incident.

Technology at game would help, but football is against this and until the rule making committee and FIFA decide to trial this errors like today will continue.

Retrospective action does occur, but it's often when the media highlight incidents.

Thank goodness that kind of thing is rarely seen in the Championship.

What I can't get my head round is that cheats like Forestieri and basically all Italian/Spanish players, oh and Arjen Robben, KNOW that their actions are seen on numerous cameras. They cannot escape or even try to justify their actions.
Yet they have no shame or guilt.

Post match interviewers should grow a pair and grill them over incidents like this.

It would be great viewing seeing Arjjen Robben attempting to justify dive after dive after a game.
Grill them. Shame them in front of millions and then

They shouldn't hide behind the officials. They are human just like the rest of us and to expect them to be perfect officiating a match is unreasonable. And I think most fans are understanding of that. But they should be supporting the refs and institute retroactive punishment so that fewer players dive and it makes the official's job that much easier. I also think they should protect refs as players are far too often allowed to get right in the grill of referees an

    What's the word I'm after?

    Contempt?

Or are these cheats oblivious to what the paying world think?

If you think about it, it must be a wonderful feeling to have. I'm quite jealous.

To be able to blatantly cheat in front of millions for a wonderful pay packet and genuinely not care what anyone thinks about your actions must be overwhelming. The power trip must be immense.

On a slight tangent, I can't remember cheating to this degree in England before 1992...

Some good constructive comment on this thread, gentlemen I congratulate you. Unfortunately (for me), prior to noticing this thread, I had already posted my views, #80 on the match-day thread. However, I'm glad to see we're are all singing from the same songbook on this one. I must say, I rather like Newcy's idea in #5. Show these b'stards up for what they really are !

In a just world, Forestieri would get a five-match ban and a heavy fine for his behaviour yesterday.

Your last sentence sums up the real root cause of this problem perfectly!

Forestieri a total disgrace BUT lets face it we see it week in week out from all nationalities and some of our lot are't always angels. Stop it by allowing a trainer on whilst the game is in progress like rugby or if stopped for head holding incident, off for min 15 mins.
