    83rd Minute

    1st May 1976, a long time ago but never forget it. Was 12 and didnt go. Offside, not a chance

    I was there behind the MU goal, couldn't quite believe it when we realised the ball was spinning in the back of the net. After we got away from the ground and the stones thrown at the coach it was a great ride home with all the motorway bridges lined with cheering crowds.

    What a day!

    So many good memories, about that day. I was behind the goal, willing the ball in to the net.
    Two highlights, on the way home, in the coach, stick in my mind.
    Being stuck in traffic, when Bob Wilson walked by. He received dogs abuse, having predicted a Utd win of 5 or 6 nil.
    Then, a while later, being passed by the team coach, with the players giving it large with the cup.

    The major difference is we didn't field a team we couldn't afford but otherwise I take your ironic point.

    Oh, just so you know - only the Mancs - and their armchair fans, think it was offside.
