    playoff change

Does anyone think the playoffs should change the format to make it fairer for the final league placing

    Eg

3rd v 6th. 3rd place team starts 1 nil up and if a draw after 2 legs, 3rd place goes through due to higher league finish

4 the v 5th. No goal head start but if draw then higher position team (4 the) goes through

All this after extra time but no penalties needed (seems unfair to settle on penalties to me)

Final. If draw after extra time. Highest league position goes up

I know its not a science and won't always work out but it may mean teams involve fight til the end of the 46th game to get higher position

    Any other ideas?

That's why I started the post. I was bored with Sunday TV so I thought I'd try and see what people actually thought of the playoffs as we are stuck with them

I would quit while you are still ahead pal. When you start to upset some of the natives as I have done recently, my advice is take a back seat for a while and shut your gob.

We should use the NFL system. 6th plays at to 5th, the winners play away to 4th and the winners of that game play the 3rd place team at Wembley.

It gives a bit of reward for your seasons results and probably keeps interest going to the last game. Third place team have the consolation that they're at Wembley, although it didn't do us any good last season.

I agree. It seems a much better and fairer system, even though 6th place can still win it lengthens the odds and at least guarantees the 3rd place team was at Wembley. This would probably make the season even more exciting and if a team misses out on the autos its a better consolation for them than having to start the process from the same place as 6th who could be 15 or so points behind...not perfect but better and fairer than our current poorly thought out system
