A superb initiative by the club.
I have been a long term supporter of Mark Frankland's "First Base" and the great work that they do.
Mark really has his finger on the country's pulse and if you haven't done so already have a read of one or two of his books.
Queens MAD are always willing to support posts concerning certain charities but it's usually courtesy to ask for permission first ..

Just who gets these food handouts if you don't mind me asking ? How do you qualify & do they go to local people ?
Hi aloreburn,
Sorry for delay in replying. Here is some bits of info below from the 'First Base Emergency Food Project' 4 page a4 newsletter which can be found at the food collection points in the Arena. Hope it may help.
Food out: we issued 4742 emergency food parcels 01/02/2014 - 31/01/2015
30% of the parcels we handed out were 'non cooking parcels for people with no gas or electricity.
Over 10% of our parcels went to families, many of whom are working
20% of the parcels we handed out went to people who had been sanctioned ie people who had been deprived of all of their benefits
Our food parcels were more widely available across Dumfries and Galloway than ever before - our parcels are now held in Moffat CAN, Annan CAN, Action for children in Kelloholm, Sanquhar Customer Service Centre, Thornhill Library, Dalbeattie Library and Langholm.
Thanks to the support of members of Unite, we were able to deliver emergency food to several vulnerable families living in isolated areas.
Great
