Next step was to check on trains, not good news as its a bus service between Fleet & Basingstoke all day long so thought it wise to inform.

Trainline is showing the bus between Basingstoke and Eastleigh on April 25th - 1hr 4mins.

Not ideal (and depends just how badly you don't want to take the bus ), but could Basingstoke > Salisbury > Central be a possibility ?

Each leg is about 40 minutes by the look of it, so no saving in time..

Interesting as earlier it was showing bus from Fleet to Staysinbloke then train to Eastleigh and change for Southampton. Will keep an eye on developments otherwise it's the old plan c. Photoshop a sale flyer for the 25th at ikea and send it to the missus,she'll be keen to drive and drop team Joff off then...

Spurs is a Category A game - pretty sure that's limited to just one ticket per Customer Number.

Maybe, but then there'd be no need to 'apply' for tickets - assuming a qualifying purchase history, it would simply be a case of buying two (of the plenty) that are still available.
