Fine by me as long as it doesn't cast a shadow across the Fratton Park and thus, cause the grass not to grow. What a mistake that would been, we must have a pitch that allows us to ping the ball around and helps us play our free flowing football.
much talk of this happening again

Don't get to many games, do you, Tamar?
(Yes, I do 'get' irony)
To be honest, I don't like statues. Waste of money. You go down Westminster in London and the place is full of 'em. I don't really get it. There's other ways to honour our bygone hero's. If it costs 100K to put up a statue, i'd rather spend it on PFC in the community. Alan Knight goin' round schools, stuff like that.
Or pump £100k into the South Stand bogs? With that amount of dough you could turn it into a classical stately home "Great Easance" with perfumed air blowing up your trouser legs when in the seated position and Scummer faces (McMeneny, Keegan, Le Tiz etc) cast in alabaster, staring up expectanctly from the pan just waiting to be shat on.
Just a thought.

And a very good thought. I don't know how a statue would be financed but it just seems a bit frivolous to be wasting money on that sort of thing when there are so many other things that need attention; new manager, new stands/facilities/roof. I don't mind a plaque here and there but statues? I mean what are they for? So people can stand there gazing up at an inanimate lump of bronze. Don't get it.

How about 3 smaller statues,Dickenson,Frogatt and SCOULAR
Agreed Ant. Jimmy D is rightly remembered by all who saw him for being an outstanding and fair player. The thing that has stuck in my mind was that he never fouled or cheated. Having just wasted 90 odd mins watching Mane diving and rolling his way through the "Orange Day" match it endorsed just how low football has sunk. Premier League - you can keep it.Originally Posted by TurktownAnt
Maybe I'm missing the point/joke here but a statue of our most famous player should be 30 ft tall and unmissed by anyone entering Fratton Park.![]()
