Thread: Phew...

    Phew...

Mixed bag tonight, first 35 mins and first 15 of second half we were absolutely honking. Other 40 mins we were excellent.

Killie look a miserable outfit but think we've left ourselves too much to do.

Just heard the result tonight in Turkey great news. We live to fight another day killie fans must be 5hitting themselves Qos hibees or sevco would rather face them than us in play offs, 8 straight defeats confidence must be shot to feck. Off to have a few more to celebrate tonight's victory hope it not too little too late.

Yep. Must win game and we got the win. We looked ok in the first half and played some decent stuff, second half we started poorly and never really got going, maybe down to Killie changing things a bit. That said, we should have took our chances because we had a few in the second half. Killie are a very poor side but we've left it to late to get out of the play off position.

I know I'll get pelters for saying this, but I still believe that avoiding the play offs is eminently doable!!!!

I've always said that the bottom 6 fixtures would be a blood bath and it's proving to be the case. Yeah, we'll need the throats of others to be cut by others but isn't that the laws of nature?

Good god, we've just seen a general election doing just that!

Motherwell have been inconsistent but we have been good at home. It's been rotten luck that Ross County have strung so many wins together but Killies collapse is more than a tad fortuitous.

Why couldn't Motherwell capitalise? It really is not beyond the realms of feasibility that we could be on equal points with killie come 5pm next Saturday.

Don't think you will get pelters but it's still going to be tough. Really thought after the first 20 minutes of tonight's game we would be lucky to get a result. Not only because of the pattern of the game but with the performance of a certain Mr Collum. Thought some of our players were going to lose it at one point but hats off to everyone of them. They didn't get sucked in and stuck to the job in hand. Sitting here delighted but still nervous. Still don't think we are firing on all cylinders and the sight of Stevie Hammell getting subbed was not good. Thought O'Brien was tremendous tonight. Still can't pass a ball but by Christ he can win it. Well done to the lads tonight but the hard work is still ahead of us.

Well done Motherwell on picking up three points against a relegation rival. That is all we can do in our situation and hope that it plants seeds of doubts in the heads of our rivals, especially Kilmarnock who looked awful and even more devoid of fight and belief than we do tonight. We weren't great tonight but we did enough in the end and so we keep it going/prolong the agony for another week.

Sadly I feel it's just too little, too late for us and all we've done tonight is kept us on course for an almighty heartbreaker two weeks tomorrow against Thistle at Fir Park, but, who knows? All we can do is win our games and hope for favours elsewhere. Whether either happen, only time will tell.

When we put our minds to it we can play some lovely stuff but oh my fpuck we can still offer up some dross , their goal perfect example but gotta credit them for keeping going. A deserved result with more positives than negatives but agree still think too much to do. Killie really would need to lose 9 games on the trot for us to escape and we need to be faultless in our last two games.

Heres our route out whiich I dont think will happen but keeps the HC's happy

Ross County Lose to St Mirren tomorrow

Next Weekend We beat St Mirren
    Hamilton Beat Ross County
    Thistle beat Killie

    Last game we beat Thistle
Doesnt matter a **** the Ross County v Kille result we escape if we beat Thistle.

That would be ideal but beyond optimistic. I think Killie, against a Ross County on the beach, would get three points if needed but you never know. Certainly if we catch them next week it will be panic time down there.

For me we need two more wins to build confidence for the play-offs, anything else a bonus.

Which is why IB is talking everything up - building confidence for the play offs and maintaining momentum is key and I can't fault him for it.
