The final game - Rangers part 2

One more big effort needed to finish the job. Let's get right behind the team and enjoy the party.

Is this the most important game ever? - view external link

According to the press this morning Rangers are going to "unleash" Kris Boyd on us. If that is the case there is no doubt they will bombard our box with crosses. That was the tactic they employed when Boyd came on at Ibrox. We need to be strong in the first twenty minutes of the game and give nothing away, don't give them a glimmer of hope. If we can do that we will grow onto the game. The one thing I'm confident of is we can score.

Rangers will score of that theres no doubt. However we are well capable of scoring as well. We cannot afford to sit back and defend too deeply. Thats a recipe for disaster. We must also learn to cut out crosses at source - attackers can't score in the air if they don't get crosses. We also need to cut out needless corners.

We are in a very good position and we can only throw it away. However it is easy to forget in the hysteria of Thursday night that we are a poor side who finished 11th in the league for a reason and it is not entirely inconceivable that we will squander our advantage. If that happens heads do indeed need to roll, with Baraclough being the first one to go because 'Rangers' are not a good team, by no stretch of the imagination and there is absolutely no excuses for us not finishing the job now, none atall.

I think tomorrow will be a very different game from Thursday night and a very nervy affair for everyone. I believe that we will make it as difficult for ourselves as possible and 'Rangers' will win on the day, whether they do so by the required margin, only time will tell but nothing would surprise me.

Yes I do go to games and have been going with the same group for many a year now. And I'm only saying what many 'Well fans are no doubt thinking ahead of this tie, we all hope we will get the right result but we know that it's still all to play for despite our advantage.

It will certainly be a nervous time and there's no way we're definitely safe.

If we can play moderately well, we'll make a few chances - take even one and it should be hard for Rangers, take two and surely we can see it out.

Still terrified though and nothing would surprise me.

Think we should forget about thursday night. Treat this as one off must win game and not defend from the 18 year yard box

My thoughts exactly. We cannot afford to sit back and defend as we do not have the midfield or full backs to do that. Rangers will score as we're incapable of keeping a clean sheet but we are capable of scoring more. They are not a great side but any mediocre side can score against us simply by punting high balls into the box.

The key to success is to defend as far up the park as we can, and restrict crosses and shots to the absolute minimum. If George Long is called on to save a single goal attempt it should result in a Public Inquiry - aspirational I know but you get my drift.

It's not rocket science guys - if the team plays to anywhere near the level it did in the 1st leg we'll survive (let's not forget this is all about survival after all).
I'm sure they're all aware of the consequences should they not - so it'll be interesting to see who fights for the jersey, and ultimately they're future well-being.
