Have a gander, I really enjoyed it.
Some may find it a hard pill to swallow, but only the one's who don't understand football. - view external link

Yes, a miracle Nigel kept us in the division under such pressures, and also he made a fine job of the squad rebuilding, giving SM a chance to rebuild his career (which is now going to go spectacularly **** shaped). But, we did enjoy the innocent climb, all done in the inimitable 'Derby Way'.
It's all in the past now, so let's spend some money, adding to a pretty decent squad that we've got already, and get out of this bloody division!
Great spot Bear ... theres just no telling some people tho! They still want to beleive in Weapons of Mass Destruction, Alien Abduction, Santa Claus and Sam Rush's PR spin ... IMO you'd think the halt from the slide and brink of financial bankruptcy was all down to him and vicars if you listen to their cosy little Starbuck interview.
I would like to say i cringe at that interview but its so much worse than that.
Its sad when people do all the hard spade work then other jump in and try and take the glory at the business end of it all. Full credit to Mel Morris in the interview at the weekend wanting to distance himself from perceived success at the end of last season. IMO shows polar opposites in the two.
Clough did what even managers like Pardew couldn't do at Charlton. Imagine with some backing what 'might' have been! - view external link
Nice to see clough getting recognised for what he did by those who understand the nuances of football and not just stuff thats obvious to the unthinking masses. Good "apprenticeship" really, succeding where many other 'names' have failed.

I note you've omitted to mention that the article rates McClaren as a coach though!
As for Clough and his resources, at least he had the money he raised from player sales (which was the point I made...sigh) I pity poor McCarthy at Ipswich who took over a club bottom of the league, had to slash the wage bill and was given not a bean from the money he raised from selling players yet still managed 9th and 6th place in his first two seasons at the club - which kind of puts Clough's "achievements" in perspective!!
