    David Clarkson Re-signs

The club's Twitter feed has confirmed that David Clarkson has just re-signed for us.

Don't know what to think of that one. He certainly had a great start at Dundee last season then went off the boil. Lets hope he hits the ground running and can keep it going.

Hope it is an action replay of the old partnership with Skippy.

Not sure about this one, seems more like a short term fix than long range planning!

My thoughts too. A bit of a surprise. Is he being brought in as back up?

    Oh dear!!!

I've always liked him for his attitude and sheer endeavour, but at this stage of his career, I just cannot see, given the magnitude of the squad rebuild, that signing David Clarkson as positive.

Of course I hope I am proven totally wrong, especially by someone like Clarky!!!

There is still much more transfer activity to come, but, at present, the core of the team is disconcertingly old. I hope the next 5 or 6 signings that Barra makes are of the "young, developing and re-sellable" ilk that the clubs new business plan is based so heavily upon.

Surely an early April Fool .. unless ball tied to his laces ball bobbles around at feet with no control.
We sold following a purple patch after months when could not hit coo’s ar$e wae a banjo
His purple patch Dundee short lived and not retained for good reason.
Are we becoming alternative to Switzerland where its footballers who come to terminate career ?

Interesting to see how this one works out. If - it's that word again! - all goes well we may see a managed transition from a starting eleven in which the balance lies towards experience to one in which the balance lies towards up-and-coming talent. I'm sure that we're set up better than we were to find young players, but it's going to need a wee bit of time, during which we need to stay in the top league. If - again! - David plays to his potential often enough he can help us out. If Scott McDonald comes back, though, I'd hope he'd be the final piece in the 'experienced' category. Finally,IB has earned a proper shot at the job, so if he thinks Clarky has a role to play for us I'll go for it.

IF true then welcome back to a genuinely good guy and a hard grafter who gave his all when he was here before and naturally holds a great deal of affection with Motherwell fans given that he is Phil O'Donnell's nephew - and rightly so in that respect.

However I fail to see how he would fit into Baraclough's style of play. He is most certainly not a lone striker and his goalscoring record is patchy to say the very least. What's more, I was always under the impression that him and McDonald did not get on and his form took a major nosedive when Skippy arrived first time around and made his mark on the team so if true then this is a strange, if interesting signing.

This looks more and more like a Motherwell Legends club and manager hoping they can replicate the form of old. That said Pearson and McDonald certainly filled the bill . However I am still waiting to see what the long term plan and I am a bit worried.
